Re: Recent update of the desktop app not allowing me to see .clip thumbnails in File Explorer.

Hello Megan - this specific Clip Studio file icon issue is now resolved as of ~last week ish! I don't remember exactly when. Thank you all for the fix.

However, the issue of Dropbox uploading Clip Studio's save file too early persists. I think what Clip Studio does when it saves a file is create a temporary file in the Dropbox folder, which Dropbox then immediately begins to upload as the file is being written to (or that seems to be the case). I think what's supposed to happen is this temporary file that's being written to is deleted as soon as Clip Studio's save operation is completed, and we're not really ever supposed to "see" this temporary file.

What happens though is that when Dropbox uploads early, the original Clip Studio file being written to gets corrupted, meaning that you now must Save As, as the original file is now broken. I would say this happens a good 70% of the time I save a file, and if it's a larger file, nearly 100% of the time. Usually I'll end up deleting about 20 of these temporary corrupted files at the end of a work day.

I've actually had this particular problem with Dropbox once before in the past, but I have no idea how it resolved itself or whether it was something I or Dropbox changed.

Hi, I’m following up on this issue as it remains unresolved.

I’m using Dropbox version 228.4.5567 on Windows. Thumbnails for Autodesk Inventor files (.ipt, .iam) still do not show up in File Explorer when these files are inside the Dropbox folder, even though they are marked as “Available offline.”

However, when I move the same files to a regular local folder, such as the Desktop, the thumbnails display correctly. This suggests the problem is related to how Dropbox handles synced folders after the recent update.

Could you please provide any updates or workarounds? Thanks in advance!

Hey claudiogardosi - I'm sorry for the late response.

Could you try the latest version of the Dropbox desktop app from this page directly and let us know if you still get the same results?
