Re: Shared Link / "scl" to "s"

Hi,

I have a question about sharing a link. When I share any file, in previous times, it used to give a small link. But now for all new files, it shows a long sharing link something like "dropbox.com/...../image.png?rlkey=12xxxxxx..." There are extra words or characters at the end of the file name. So, is there any option to make it a small link like before?

Why dropbox has started such a loooong link? What was wrong with the old time small link?!! 😞

Warmly regards,
Abid H.

Thank you Hannah for continuing to direct our community to this thread for questions related to forced downloads and the change in URL format.

As mentioned my post marked as the solution, this change reflects our move to an updated shared link architecture.

This utilizes a rlkey parameter to grant access and is a "content based" rather than "user based" link.  Content based links are tied to the content being shared and are the same for every user accessing that content.  The old architecture would instead create a unique link for every user who clicks "create link".
