Can you completely change a filename using a naming convention?
Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS Safari, Automations, Dropbox Professional
Hey, Dropboxers,
Quick question: Is it possible to completely change a file name using naming conventions? I mean, it’s clear that you can include a date, etc., but what if someone wants to add for eg., both a date and a different file name from the original, such as:
file_name_example to be configured to YYYYMMDD document_type
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Hi ibrokethelaw, thanks for contacting us!
Currently, the naming convention feature does allow you to rename a file, but it would still need to keep the original file name in the new name.
There are other apps and services that can rename files directly on your machine, which would then sync to the Dropbox site. Some might also connect to Dropbox directly to edit files on the site.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
