Hi modelit! Thanks for sharing your suggestion on the forum.

Just a clarification; when saying you’d like your team members to not be able to make edits to specific subfolders in the team space, does this concern subfolders inside team folders/shared folders to which the members have edit access?

In other words, would you like the members to have view-only access to subfolders that are stored in folders that they can edit?

Let me know, and we'll go from there.

    Hi Nancy

Yes this concerns subfolders inside team folders to which Team members have edit access.

Under the Folder structure I have show below I would like to Prevent Team Members edit access on SUB-FOLDER-1,2,3 but have edit access to SUB-FOLDER-4, they can then add their own sub-folders etc to SUB-FOLDER-4 ie SUB-FOLDER-5

    DROPBOX / TEAM-FOLDER / SUB-FOLDER-1 / SUB-FOLDER-2 / SUB-FOLDER-3 / SUBFOLDER-4 / SUB-FOLDER-5 /

    thanks

Thanks for the clarification and the additional information modelit - much appreciated.

You should be able to achieve this by creating separate sub-folders in the parent team folder and assigning the right permissions to the team members as needed. For example, you can assign view only permissions on some sub-folders and edit permissions on others to the team members you'd like.

Can you give it a go and let me know if that would work for what you had in mind?

Hi from me as well, modelit!

After playing around with folders and their permissions in a team folder, I found that this is how you can achieve what you're looking for:

So, say you have a team folder "A" and all team members have edit access to that folder, and within, you have a subfolder "B" that certain team members or groups have view-only access to.

In order to ensure that folder "B" can't be renamed or moved, you can add a subfolder as a mediator: Folder A / Mediator folder / Folder B.

If you grant 'can view' access to the members or groups you'd like to the mediator folder, they won't be able to then modify Folder B.

I understand that it isn't exactly what you're asking for, but it is a doable workaround.

    Hi Hannah

thank you I have tried this and it works, not exactly what I was after but it would allow me to set up some folders to prevent team members form moving, deleting etc,  thank you again
