Hi! I'm having difficulty deleting a folder I own. I keep getting an error message "You don’t have permission to delete files in this folder". There are no files in the folder and I have triple checked that I am the owner of the folder. I have also unshared it with any other members.71Views0likes19CommentsHow can I detect duplicate files and folders in 10 TB of data?
Duplicate Files & Folders - I desperately need help! I have been with Dropbox for 15 years probably almost from day one. I have been syncing folders between Dropbox, Google Drive and my Synology Servers for several years now too. And because of this, I have thousands and thousands of duplicate files. It's certainly not all Dropbox's fault, in fact, drop box has been by far the best cloud storage system I have ever used, but somewhere along the way my folders and files have been duplicating and duplicating again, so many times now I couldn't even begin to count. Long story, short is that I have about 15 or 16 TB worth of data right now on Dropbox, & my guess is that at least 10 of these TB's are duplicate folders/files. I have spent countless hours days weeks in a futile attempt to delete the duplicates. I have spent years desperately trying to get everything organized. But I feel like it's only gotten worse. And at this point, I'm just beside myself I don't even know what to do anymore. Google Drive also has about the 15 TBS in it. About a month and a half ago I used an app called Filerev to mass delete duplicate files and folders in Drive. Filerev was also supposed to remove empty folders. Neither solution worked. In fact, file river pretty much just moved all of my files to my Google Drive trash folder. And, what's worse is that because Google Drive permanently deletes items that are in your trash folder after 30 days, my files are getting permanently deleted, more each day. I guess I should temporarily turn off the sync between Google Drive and Dropbox until I get this straightened out. I am going to do that right now. I'm looking for any advice at this point. Obviously I need to remove these duplicate files/folders ASAP. It's impossible to find anything. It's a total mess. I've got multiple files with the same names that have been edited at different times and are located in completely different folders. Ugh. It's just too much for any one person to even think about fixing manually, which is the only solution Dropbox has ever offered me. Does anyone know of an app that might actually work? I am open to any and all solutions. If anyone knows anything that I can do to fix this, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance... I always worked on a pc. Now I finally bought a Mac desktop. I tried to migrate files (obviously in a wrong way) and it looked perfect but they all are 0 bytes. But they all have the correct name. If I delete one, it's disappeared from Dropbox. My question: (how) can I delete all the corrupted files frommy Mac without removing them from Dropbox? Thank you for your answer! Ino64Views0likes7CommentsHow can I see all the files that I deleted?
I recently deleted many files with the knowledge that my files could still be restored if I needed them. However, when I looked at "Deleted files" what I saw to my surprise were lines that read, e.g., [name of file] and 3283 more files (and there were many such lines!) What happened to the folders and structure within the folders? Do I really have to restore all of these files to find the one I want? (And it's not a question about searching for a specific file name; it's about restoring entire folders!) Thanks for your help on this.Solved18Views0likes2CommentsMy account deleted after 10 years with no warning

I need my pictures back ??? pls help32Views0likes3CommentsStrange email from Dropbox - You deleted 5860 files from Dropbox
I received this email from Dropbox saying 5,860 files were deleted from my account. I looked at the files and none of those files were created by me. I had no idea they existed and I cannot see any other info as to when they were created. It doesn't even allow me to look what's inside any of those files. The only option is to restore all of them which is not ideal as they look like files created by a hacker with weird domains being the names of the files. I have already changed the password for this account. What are my options here ?13Views0likes1CommentLost my account and files
I was trying to log in yesterday through mobile app but I was directed to sign up. I tried reseting my password instead. After successfully resetting my password, it turned out to be a new account with welcome message and product tour. All my information details, profile photo are gone and plans was back into 2gb storage and all my stored files was gone. Empty account! I didn't receive any email notification from Dropbox prior this incident.131Views0likes13CommentsThe owner of a shared folder deleted their account, which also deleted my files.
Hello everyone! One of my colleagues made a shared folder for me that I was supposed to put all my data in for my master's project. He recently moved away and deleted his Dropbox account. He meant to migrate all his data off the Dropbox before doing this but he missed my folder. He never transferred ownership to me or anything. He still has the email his account was associated with. I have Dropbox Basic, I believe he had Dropbox Basic as well. Now the folder is empty and all my files are gone. The only trace of them existing is in the "events" page where it shows when I uploaded and edited files. It has the file names but I can't do anything to access them. Looking in the "Activity" section of my folder I can see that on November 14th all of my files were deleted by the Dropbox Server at the same time. The files were locally on my computer as well, in the Dropbox folder that appears on the Windows 10 file explorer. They also were all deleted from there. Is there any way I can recover these files? I really, really would like to get them back as this data is important to my project and is irreplaceable. I had no idea that this could happen, and I did not expect the files to be deleted off my computer.33Views0likes2Comments
