Device -Mac Studio (Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Tahoe 26.3.1. Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 243.4.6956 Syncing Status Up to date. Question or Issue A few thousand files were deleted. No idea how this happened. Dropbox can't tell me either. Said it could be an app that has access. Pretty sure I don't have any that would do that. Any ideas? KMW75Views0likes2CommentsI deleted my Dropbox Backup but files still are still accessible through the 'Recents' filter
Hi, In my main account, I've deleted a Backup (proper Backup; a computer that was registered there). Today, when exploring the "Recents" filtering on the Home page, I see the name of that computer, folders and files within are still there! I can even open and visualize them. Even though they were supposed to be wiped; when I delete the whole Backup and confirm, they are not supposed to be stored under the retention period. Also, I don't see them anywhere else; not in Deleted Files; not in dropbox.com/backups, so there is no way to restore them or properly delete them. When selecting those files in questions from the Recents filter, the only options I get are "File Info" and "File Activity", so Dropbox "knows" that those files are supposed to not exist anymore and, hence, it won't let me do anything. When you right click other; existing files there, you get all the options like Open, Share, Delete, etc. In summary, this is clearly a (serious) bug: Those files should have been completely removed when I deleted the Backup They shouldn't show up in Recents list as a leftover Serious privacy issue, as not only they show there as some useless remnants, I get a thumbnail preview of them and I can double click to open! You are clearly storing my data I chose to delete! As a side note, why can't we clear or selectively remove items from the Recents list; nor on the Web or the App? I've seen some posts from years ago. Is this ever going to be addressed? All the other main players (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) allow that, so why do I have to see stuff I don't want in my Recents filtering "forever" (or until they get cycled out; which I couldn't find any documentation on how many files you keep there) Thanks.Solved249Views0likes15CommentsMy recently edited Microsoft Excel files are suddenly missing.

Lenovo Hybrid laptop Tablet 2014 Windows 10, DB not available How to delete residual files in DB folder if DB not available / not connected in (old) computer anymore? Have tried this > https://help.dropbox.com/delete-restore/delete-files outcome is this: > https://www.dropboxforum.com/category/101001000/discussions/10100101360Views0likes9CommentsTrying to delete files, not working. I refuse to just buy more storage space.
I am trying to make space in my dropbox on my HP computer, since I am getting a warning about starting to delete files unless I buy more storage space. I absolutely do not want to buy more space! It is a good time to delete some unnecessary files. So now I am permanently deleting all my deleted files, one by one. At some point it does not allow me to delete any more of them. I get no message to explain why, it just does not function. I am pretty sure it just tries to force me to buy more space. Any thoughts on this? Or, do you guys know of any other cloud services that actually allow you to manage your own data?77Views0likes5CommentsMy Dropbox account is out of space. Should I permanently delete some shared folders?
Good day My client shared some of his folders with me, but now I can't access anymore (new year's folders) due to my Dropbox out of storage. I have deleted some of the folders from my Dropbox but still can't access the new folders. It is a problem - I am only viewing the folders - doesn't upload anything. Is there a way to permanently delete the old folders in/on my Dropbox without deleting it on his side?73Views0likes4CommentsI keep seeing a pop-up message online that keeps appearing each time. Can I stop it?
For the past few days, when I log in to the web version of Dropbox.com, I get a pop-up message that says, "View files you have deleted - You can also easily restore or permanently delete them here." Even if I click the OK button, the message keeps appearing every time I log in. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks!153Views1like9CommentsAll my content on my free account is gone. Device - iphone 16 and MacBook Pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) - Sequoia 15.7.3/Chrome Question or Issue I've had the "You're out of storage" message for about a year but most of my dropbox usage is temporary file viewing (via "viewed links") that is sent to me from other people for quick download to my device then I never see it again. I've had a handful of folders that were "shared" to me over the years with large amounts of pictures and videos but the most recent folder was back in 2019. I've been deleting these same folders and individual files over and over and over tonight and it won't stick. The pop-ups saying they're removed come up, and sometimes, the file would disappear to then reappear again soon after, but most of the time, a pop up would say "xyz folder has been removed from your dropbox" but then I'd be staring right at it, not removed. When I go to "Photos" one random folder of 915 photos is there and (10) 11min-55min long videos that are all from completely different "removed" folders are there and I get an error message that says "there was a problem deleting xyz. please try again." no matter which device I try to delete them on. I've now "removed" literally every folder from my dropbox from every device I have and nothing has changed. It says I have "61.96GB of 2GB used". Please help me solve this!!Solved91Views0likes4Comments
