How to Safely Manage Photos Between Dropbox and iPhone?
Hi everyone, I use Dropbox to back up and organize my photos, but I’m having some trouble managing them with my iPhone Photos app. I recently noticed that when I delete a photo from Dropbox, it also gets deleted from my iPhone Photos app, which I didn’t expect. Here are my questions: How can I delete photos from Dropbox without affecting the photos saved on my iPhone? Is there a way to stop Dropbox from syncing deletions with my iPhone? Can I keep using Dropbox as a backup while ensuring my iPhone photos remain safe and unaffected? I deleted a photo from Dropbox, but it also got deleted from my iPhone Photos app.
I would like to delete the photos uploaded to my Dropbox account. The issue is when I deleted one photo as a test, it also deleted it from my IPhone Photos App. I don’t want to lose any photos in my IPhone Photos App. Any help would be appreciated.
Many ".photocompustate" photos have been deleted. What are they and should I restore them?
I am not sure if this is the right forum but here is the issue. I got an email tonight that said I deleted 2100+ files. The files are all the same ".photocompustate" is in every name. I can't open them like a normal file. Anyone know what these files might be? I don't know if I should restore them. TIA
Random second charge, without warning.
Hey I canceled my payment 3 days ago just after I had already paid one fee but you have taken a second charge a couple hours ago. Why should I be charged again, you gave no warning about taking another charge why would you take money in the space of 3 days like that when I have a canceled subscription ? You have no way to get in contact other than robots. I purchased the subscription less than a month ago so how have you guys taken over $60 for not even a month of use ? I feel like you take money off your customers and rely on robots to hide. My rating so far is 0/10 and i will not be using this service again if this can't be sorted out. Anyone reading check to make sure these guys don't rip you off also because if they are doing it to everyone then that's theft and they will be making millions off a service that holds just over a gig of storage for me lol. All i find is more stories of dropbox ripping people off and having no hope at even getting someone from dropbox on the team.
Moving files on my desktop to the trash deletes them immediately instead.
I am running Dropbox Backup. On MacOS, when I drag a file on my desktop to the trash, it is deleted automatically. In other words, it does not appear in the trash in case I want to recover it later. I get a warning that says"This item will be deleted immediately.You can't undo this action." When the same file is in any other folder or location on my computer besides the Desktop, and I drag it to the trash, the behavior is normal - the files goes into the trash where I can see it and recover it if need be. I am running Dropbox Backup on Sequoia 15.2 on a 2020 M1 Macbook Air. Any thoughts?I tried to use Dropbox Rewind for a folder, but it throws an internal error.
Hello community, Seems like I am not the only one. Accidentally deleted a large critical directory (19GB) on my local machine and managed to stop the sync completing fully. Tried on the web browser Rewind, move files to a different directory, physically moving the files that were deleted (in the Deleted Items folder) back to another folder, remove desktop app and reinstall and basically anything to stop / halt the process. Contacted 'Support' but no reply as yet. The latest error: 1 of 3: Pick a day to get started Activity: this week There was an internal Dropbox error, but we can still help you use Rewind.Contact support No joy so far and wondered if anyone had a hack/workaround to resolve this. Very distressing and time consuming as I am sure it has been for others that have experienced the same! 🤯😵💫 Thanks for your help / support in the meantime. 🙏
Shared files have been deleted, and I want to Rewind them.
ive recently shared my files with someone and they took all my files and blocked me across all platforms. I can look back on the version history but I can't rewind the files and I think it's glitched can someone look in to it. Please help me
Can't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.
