I am also a backblaze customer and have exactly the same issue. The issue isnt exclusive to Dropbox but all cloud storage systems using Mac that are in the new folder structure (i.e. 'Cloud Storage' folder).
For me, yes, I am ok with it as I have the extended recovery on my Dropbox meaning if something was to happen I can get it back. I also, sadly, cannot think of any work arounds at present.

I hope you are aware that if you change an old file (e.g. older than 30 days or 365 days if you paid for that), the original version will no longer be available. So either you need to backup all your data every 30 / 365 days or you run the risk of loosing a file by accidentally changing it.
