Will deactivating my own Dropbox account delete photos from my friend's account too?
A good friend has sent me a link to share her very precious photos, so I opened a Dropbox account.
In total they are 4.3gb, too large for a basic free account, but I didn't know this until I had ad...

Thank you for your reply, I think It maybe a shared link I received in a text msg but I'm not 100% certain.
The folder shows in my account and the photos are taking up my storage space but they are not read only as I have the option to edit them.

In this case it sounds like you're referring to a shared folder, since it's taking up space for your Dropbox account.
