Issues with drag and drop; using chrome browser
Hi all;
I have always used the drag and drop feature to add in files to the DB folder. Over the recent months, this feature has become erratic at when it chooses to work and when it wont. Some ...

Hi Walter - You may be onto something here.. it loads the mp3 file in fine, but can't seem to load in the URL link/s I want to drop in.. but I can do this in IE?
Seems to be some kind of coding issue between chrome and DB?
I also noted previously that if I add the file in by navigation, (as apposed to click and drag) it changes the file to some weird unusable format (no longer a link).. so this issue may be above me fixing then? something for DB to investigate (or google?)
But it only does it sometimes?? weird..
suggestions pls

6 years agoHi MBarker202, it's possible that this is a restriction by Chrome, or something in the browser itself that is preventing the Dropbox site from working correctly.
Are you able to drag the file into the root folder? What about uploading the file directly by clicking that option on the site, instead of dragging and dropping the file?

Hi Jay;
I can try uploading to the root folder and see if that makes a difference (I am guessing that the pathway thru multiple folders is what you are hinting at here?)
Also with adding the files direct from navigation - as per a previous reply to walter (I believe) - dropbox changed the url link to an unusable file format; so this doesn't work. I can only successfully upload a link by drag and drop - hence my problem.
Will let you know about the other tho when I try next.

thank you all for you input over this issue.
Whatever was casuing this seems to have rectified iteself or has been taken care of in a DB update; (or chrome?) as now the click and drag works even quicker, no lag between the screens (and DB doesn't even display the dialogue box anymore as it used to) - it just works, which is really all I need.
If it plays up again i'll be sure to let you know; but seems all good for now!
Cheers and thanks again to you all for your input.

Hey all.
Definately a chrome based issue. Got on again this evening to upload some more files, and drag and drop refuses to work in chrome with those file lenghts/extensions - loaded into firefox and worked straight away. FF works cleaner than IE so guess I'll just use that when it doesnt work in chrome?? seems like an odd solution but can't really tell whats making chrome dislike it occasionally..
