My public folder is no longer being shared to everyone, why?
I have been using DropBox for over 10 years ... but recently things have changed, in W11 seems very different.
For example, I have a public folder .. and I set this to be available to all to view ... and its subfolders & contents, been working fine.
Now the 'Public' folder is set to only me ..... plus contacts are limited, how can I reset it to be available to anyone
When people try to access any file in it they get a message that they need approval.
How do I set the folder AND all of its subfolders AND contents to be available?

Most likely, you're looking to create a shared link to a folder. Could you try the exact steps listed in this article to see if this helps?

Hi sargan, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Are you referring to the old Public folder feature which was deprecated on September 1st 2017, or a normal shared link to a folder?
This will help me to assist further!

No idea what the folder is/was.
Until I upgraded to W11 DropBox was a square Blue icon on desktop (shortcut) now its a folder so definitely changes.
What I want is a folder that I can put public access items ....for me that is a number of files, and a number of sub folders with files ..... want to be able to click on a file or folder get a link and share it ..... has worked until now.
If I have to share every item individually that is too difficult.Happy enough with other folders, but do need 1 public access folder, how do I recover that ?

related to this, I have looked in help pages .. it talk about having to share a folder and I can select edit or view.
I want people to be able to download ... but not make changes to my files ..... will view allow that ? confusing as when I tried a 'share' option it asks me for names. I want to share to 'all'

That is correct sargan.

If I create a 'shared link' to a folder and create it as a 'link for viewing' does it automatically confer same 'view' privileges to all items contained within that folder .. including contents of sub-folders ?

Hey sargan, let me jump in here, too. What you mention is correct; anyone who has access to your shared link will be able to view the contents of the parent folder and any subfolder or file it contains.

Thnx ... that seems to meet the needs.
