Shared Folders
562 TopicsI joined a client's folder, but I'm being asked for more Dropbox space to add a file to it.
A client shared their dropbox link with me to upload files and it keeps telling me my personal account is full and to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade my account. The clients have a full account and I joined their folder to upload too. How can I get rid of this error.17Views0likes2CommentsI'm asked to join a Team, when a client sends me an invitation to join his folder.
I am a tax preparer in Canada and am having an issue with sharing files with one of my clients. In the past I have created a folder and shared with my client an invitation to put information into a folder which I hold on my dropbox account. After their tax return is complete I put their confidential tax return and signature documents back onto the dropbox that only they and I have access. My newest client already had a dropbox account and he sent me an invite to view his information on his dropbox. When I click through to view the file, Dropbox tells me I have to join his company account. If I say yes to join, Dropbox tells me I have to change the username and password on my other already established dropbox account before I can access his. So I say no, since I have another staff member who also has access to various files. My question is - how can I get my new client's information without making a bunch of changes to my own access? Am I missing something?40Views0likes1CommentWhy am I getting an error that my account is full after uploading files to shared folders?
This has happened with multiple clients with large amounts of storage. They share a set of folders but it doesn't see their storage amount it only sees my 2GB limit and I can't upload even though the client has plenty of room. When I sign out to see if I can access that way it asks me to sign into DB to access the link. I obviously am not the best at figuring out the issue and could use help so I can access their full storage capabilities for file transfers.57Views0likes7CommentsIs it necessary to have to verify identity when accessing a shared folder through a link?
I shared a folder to "anyone with the link". When someone tries to access it from a new browser (never signed in to Dropbox before) they are always hit with a message to verify identity. Is there no way around this message so they can just get to the folder? Attaching screenshot. Thanks, Christi94Views0likes11CommentsI need to remove some members from my shared folders, but I don't seem to be the owner.
I have discontinued a business relationship with a few people and would now like to unshare some of my folders in Dropbox. However, I don't seem to be able to do that, and what's worse, one of the ex-associates seems to be the OWNER of a folder in my account! How do I fix this? Mike.32Views0likes4CommentsCan I share a folder? If so, then how?
I was a member some years ago but deleted my account for various reasons. I have recently joined the free version and, obviously, see a lot of changes have taken place. In "the old days" if I wanted to share a lot of photos, I would insert them in a folder (I can't remember the name), and email the person I wanted to share with, and they could access the folder through a link in the email. Is it possible to still do this, or is creating a shared folder the way now?Solved47Views0likes3CommentsHow can I make sure that my shared link recipients can't see each other?
Very simple dropbox user. upload blueprints, copy link, email to vendors. Now all my vendors can see eachother and thats not good. Also it is making my invitees request my permission to access the folders. All im doing is creating folder, copying that link and emailing it to my vendors. What changed and why can they see eachother now. im not paying for a stupid account so i can call customer service.29Views0likes3CommentsI can no longer accept an invite with an alternate account.
Hello, I've been using Dropbox for probably 15 years. I've been using my account since it had just a few MB and recall doing Dropquest yearly to pick up a few more. You can say I am attached to this account. That said, I pay for Dropbox Plus these days. This is a personal account, however, I got my employer to start using it as well (though we do not pay for Teams or Business, just multiple Plus accounts). My account is a mix of personal contents (camera uploads) and work shared folders. When dealing with folders from 3rd party work associates, they used to send me invites to my work email address (which has no Dropbox account), and if I clicked on that invite, the invite would approve within my personal account. I assume this is because I had the link. It didn't matter if this was a shared folder or just a single file or just view permissions. At some point in the past year or two, this all changed. It may have been longer ago, I can't remember. Now, when someone invites me to a shared folder at my work account and I follow the link, my only option is to Request Access with my personal account. Why is this? Is there a way I can add my work email address as an alias for my personal Dropbox account? I do not want two Dropbox accounts... and the approach that is presented when Dropbox tries to make me a 2nd account is all wrong. Two accounts would be acceptable in the future ONLY if sync could be aggregated or carefully managed. I don't want two sync clients running. What are my options here? And what changed?30Views0likes1Comment
