Unauthorised access to a folder I have shared with others

Dear All,

I had shared a folder of my Dropbox (basic) with 2 people (I may have given them a full control by mistake). Later, I realised that folder has been shared with a third person. I would like to know history of the interactions with folder and who has shared it with third person/email address. Is there any way, please? This has happened in early this year. I am happy to pay the cost to find this out.

kind regards

Ash

Hey Ash Dan, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Friday.

All the members of the shared folder are able to share the folder with others and you can check the folder's members by navigating to the folder's settings or hovering your mouse over the "Who can access" column when navigating to the shared folder from your homepage

For more information about add, edits, and deletions on the folder, you can check your events page.

I hope this helps to some extent, Ash.

Hi Ash Dan, the only way to have more information is if you were on a Dropbox Business team on the Advanced plan, and to check the activity log, since that gives a breakdown of who shared any file or folder.

However, since this happened while you're on a Basic plan, it wouldn't be possible to find out now, unfortunately.

Hi Jay, it is not unfortunate and I undestand. But is there any way to do if I pay all the required cost to get the activity log? Or go through a business plan with start date back to before incident dat? This matter is highly important affecting my life.
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you

Upgrading to a paid plan isn't retroactive, so you won't be able to get any information on who shared the folder prior to the team creation.
