I'm not a Linux expert by any means, but I don't think this will work. Dropbox only syncs the files physically located within the local Dropbox folder. It doesn't follow symlinks, junctions or mount points.
The correct way to do this is to move the Dropbox folder to a larger drive, or replace your existing drive with a larger one.
