Problem solved for now, following solution option #2 above. I managed to swap the /home directory to a different disk/partition within the existing raid array. So I increased the available space from ~ 370GB to 500GB, which is sufficient for now. I also removed & reinstalled the Dropbox flatpack software which gives me the Dropbox software on my linux machine. Just to be sure...
It seems to work. The synchronozation with the cloud seems to work, but is slow or just working from time to time?I sometines think it doesn't synchronize.... I will check it from time to time.
