No additional space on Business Advanced
Dear community,
I'm here to advice that the support have been denying us additional space for two weeks, first telling us that there was a momentary problem, then that we had made a request before...

It is essentially for this reason that it is not possible to have all the storage you want

3 years agoHi everyone,
Thank you for your feedback and patience as we’ve been actively working to address accelerated storage demand and ensure all our customers have a reliable experience with Dropbox. As a result, we’re moving to a metered storage policy on our Dropbox Advanced plan. There is no action required today from the vast majority of our customers, who will be able to keep their existing storage and more for up to five years at no additional charge. You can read about the changes and why we're making them on our blog here.
We appreciate you being part of the Dropbox community and are committed to making this transition as seamless as possible.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12I didn't understand anything about your blog... what do we need to understand for customers with 100 tb of storage and more?
- MrLeoSir3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
that you will be charged $10 1TB per month over the 35TB
I think I will have to go to tape for all the videos that I deal with in this case and set up my own FTP server for customers to upload and download from myself. As these are really big sizes. its a shame all them people have made it so much harder for people who need it to run there business or little like myself who handle big video files.

Hi Niitr0,
Existing Dropbox Advanced customers don't need to take any action at this time. Here's the relevant information from the blog on how existing accounts will be affected:
Customers using less than 35TB of storage per license—over 99% of Advanced customers—will be able to keep the total amount of storage their team is using at the time they’re notified, plus an additional 5TB credit of pooled storage, for five years at no additional charge to their existing plan.
For the less than 1% of customers utilizing 35TB or more of storage per license, we’re committed to working with you. To make this transition easier, you’ll be able to continue utilizing your current storage amount at the time you’re notified, plus an additional 5TB credit of pooled storage for one year (up to 1,000TB total), at no additional charge to your existing plan. You’ll be contacted by our team in the coming weeks to discuss a range of options for getting the storage that you need for your business or organization.
For customers who need additional space, storage add-ons will be available for purchase for new customers on September 18 and existing customers on November 1 at 1TB for $10/month if purchased monthly or $8/month if purchased annually.
We will begin gradually migrating existing customers to the new policy on November 1. You don't need to do anything today. We’ll notify all customers at least 30 days prior to their planned migration date.
If you have additional questions specific to your account, you can contact Dropbox Support.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12It doesn't answer my question, how much will the price of the subscription increase? And especially the 150 tb of storage remains asquis or will have to be paid from November?
- MrLeoSir3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
well it doesnt say about the cost of becoming part of dropbox, so I guess the same cost.
but it would be $1150 a month plus the cost of dropbox for 115TB of space with dropbox.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12don't understand. Why $1,150?
- MrLeoSir3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Well it’s $10 1TB so do the math

Hi Niitr0,
The price of your Advanced account will not change. You will be able to keep your current storage at the time you are notified along with the 5TB granted to existing Advanced accounts. If you wish to add storage in November, that will increase cost according to the pricing model posted above and in the linked post.

Hi DBXCommunity - some wording in the blog post is confusing. We have 20 legitimate users and are stuck at 46 TB quota.
Customers using less than 35TB of storage per license—over 99% of Advanced customers—will be able to keep the total amount of storage their team is using at the time they’re notified, plus an additional 5TB credit of pooled storage, for five years at no additional charge to their existing plan.
The above statement makes us think we will be increased to 51 TB (46 + 5) before we would have to incur extra cost. But this other statement:
Starting today, customers who purchase a Dropbox Advanced plan with three active licenses will receive 15TB of storage space shared by the team—enough space to store about 100 million documents, 4 million photos or 7500 hours of HD video. Each additional active license will receive 5TB of storage.
would make us eligible for 100TB (15 + 17*5) on our account before incurring extra cost. Which is it? And as a long time customer if it is the first why would we be penalized?

Hi DBXCommunity
I think new business customers will consider using Google Workspace Enterprise Plus instead of Dropbox Advance.
Because G.Workspace has 5TB pool/user. And increase 5TB pool/user every 90 days.
And I'm using with 20TB pool/user. With 10 users, I have 200TB in Google Workspace Enterprise Plus. And will continue to increase 5TB/user every 90 days.In the new dropbox policy. I don't think there's much reason to stay with 5TB/user.
Previously I was hoping, dropbox would be limited to 35-50TB/user. and we will increase the storage by adding new user.
I am really disappointed by the new policy. - Shamrock223 years agoHelpful | Level 7
I hope you grant the 35 TB per User for old accounts.
This would actually be still adequate for our business.
But at the moment we are in low 20TB capacity for _the whole company/account_, which is not a good price at all.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12Ok so if I understood correctly, I can keep my 150 tb for 77€ per month, if I want to add 5to I will pay 5x10€. So 77+ 5x10 every month or just the month or I ask for this increase?
- Colek3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Will you be offering full refund for all months that we've been subscribed with this "as much storage as you need" principle?
We've been migrating to your cloud for few months now, patiently waiting for our storage quota to be extended when you've told us we needed to wait.
Now, we are not done migrating and we need to migrate once again from Dropbox to new service because of your policy change - this is riddiculous.
- VM Khan3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
I offered to support before moving to dropbox.
Spending a lot of time on dropbox. Now have to move.
I will probably also ask for a full refund.
Previously dropbox support also told me this. But I still hope to wait to continue - DBXCommunity3 years ago

sphensilhagen For account-specific questions, we would need to speak to you in a support ticket. I can reach out to you via email or, if you prefer, you can contact us via the Support page.
Niitr0 Correct, existing users will keep their current storage and will be able to add on storage in November. The price of $10/month per TB will increase your storage with a monthly billing cycle that will renew automatically. It will not expire after a month, and you will be able to purchase more space as needed up to the account limit of 1000TB.
Colek and VM Khan Refund inquiries and requests need to be made via Dropbox Support. I can reach out via email to open a Support ticket, or you can contact Dropbox Support directly if you prefer.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12Ok, it's clearer, so how does the payment go for the 5TB? Is it a second billing?
- Thunder13 years agoHelpful | Level 5@DBXCommunity
Is the 35 TB Limit applied per User ?
Example: I got 3 Users. Lets say one User has a usage of 5TB, one of 60TB and one of 30TB.
Will this be a Problem, because one User Is overutilising the storage or am I free to distribute the Storage ( in this case 35TB x3 = 105TB) between the users as I like?
And what will happen with Accounts using more than this storage quota? The Blog Post Is a bit vague. Will it be possible to downsize below said storage quota to be eligble for the 35TB per user plus 5TB? - DBXCommunity3 years ago

Hi Niitr0,
The additional 5TB of pooled storage is provided at no extra charge to your current plan, up to a maximum of 5 years.
- MrLeoSir3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
how long do we have to get our data out of dropbox? as I use video files and they are just big. So I fear I will lose some of my work

Hi Thunder1
Storage is pooled in the Dropbox Advanced plan. We determine whether you are above or below the 35TB/license threshold as an average usage, meaning it is calculated as Terabytes per License rather than assigning a TB amount to individual users.
There are two major differences in being above or below this 35TB/license threshold:
- Accounts above 35TB/license will receive 1 year of an additional 5TB of pooled storage on their account. Accounts below this threshold will receive this 5TB for 5 years.
- A team member at Dropbox will contact you to discuss the range of options for your business or organization's storage needs if your account is above 35 TB/license

Hi MrLeoSir,
We will begin migrating existing Advanced accounts to the new policy on November 1. We will notify users at least 30 days before this migration begins.
- Thunder13 years agoHelpful | Level 5@DBXCommunity
Just to clarify : Does 35TB per License mean 35TB per User license or per Account license? So if I have 3 Users in my Account , is this one license or 3 licenses?
You said 5TB for one year if I am over this 35TB and 5TB for 5 years if I am under.
Does this also apply for my "regular" storage quota? Or will I be able to keep my already granted storage quota the "Plan" Page in my Account is showing me?
Or just the already occupied storage? Or none of it?
Thats not clear to me. - MrLeoSir3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
so If I understand you correctly, we will not charged more for 100TB for 5 years if we have that?
- Shamrock223 years agoHelpful | Level 7
If "old Accounts" are under the 35TB per User-Limit are we allowed to expand our storage to those 35TB per User or are we stuck with the capacity we already have at this point? This question is important for our business. If we are stuck with what we've already got at this point then this ain't a good deal for us anymore unfortunately.

Hey @DBXCommunity,
Let's say I have 300 TB of total quota on my Dropbox Advanced plan right now, with 3 licenses.
Can you please explain what changes will happen?
To my understanding, I fall under the > 35 TB/license bracket so:- I will only get 5 TB more next year. So basically my quota will become 305 TB.
- To increase storage further up to 1 PB, I have to pay $10/month for 1 TB or add licenses for 5 TB.
What I don't know for sure is if after 1 year will I drop down to 5 TB/license? It is not clear based on the blog announcement whether the 5 TB increase is for one year or if my existing quota is valid for one more year. I hope it's not the case that I will lose my storage and you're applying this change retroactively.
Thank you.
