Hi there,
just installed the new
Beta Build 53.3.65
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-53-3-65/m-p/282044#M4928
with which the problem seems to be fixed.
It works now for me again.

I have had this problem on OS 10.9.5, but I wanted to give it a try, so I installed the beta version (after removing the app and all its related files), and it still crashes with the same errors as it did after the advanced reinstall of the regular version:
the first attempt to run produces:
Crashed Thread: 3 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010
VM Regions Near 0x10:
-->
every subsequent attempt produces:
Crashed Thread: 0 CrBrowserMain Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
I see however that the beta version is from June 18th, so as recent as the time when the standard version of the app started crashing. I will try with an older backup, start dropbox while off the network, and see whether that at least allows the app to start without crashing.

I downloaded and installed an older version of Dropbox (49.4.68). It started up without problems, and kept working for a couple of minutes, i.e. until the app updated itself to the latest version. This is the best performance so far in 5 days, because the app finally started, I could log into my account, and start the syncing. Too bad that there is no way to prevent it from updating itself during syncing. As soon as the app updated itself to 52.4.58, it crashed.
As far as I am concerned, the latest version (52.4.58) has a bug.
