I made an account yesterday (with the basic free account) and downloaded the desktop app. One problem is that no icon appears on my desktop. If I need to open the app, I have to press the Windows key and type the name in. The major problem is that I can't sign into the desktop app. It would open my default browser (Edge) for me to sign in and then that page would change to "Successfully logged in. Open Dropbox" but then the app would give an error "Previous sign in interrupted. Please try again." immediately after. I've uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, restarted my laptop, cleared my browser's data, but still get the same error. I'm able to sign in on my other browser (Firefox) and mobile browser (Chrome app) without any issues. It's just the windows desktop app.6Views0likes1Commentstarting dropbox from bat file on win 11
Hello --- I use a bat file to start dropbox on win 11 --- I discovered this issue with the beta version so I reverted to the stable. I reported this issue to support. So now stable version 238.4.6075 comes online and the issue resurfaced From the screen shot, it seems that when dropbox starts, it executes javascript and rust code which generates error messages to the command screen --- has anyone seen this issue? this issue is on all my windows computers9Views0likes0CommentsHow to back up my Dropbox folder on an external drive?
Running Windows 11 Pro. I recently re-installed Dropbox to retrieve files still stored on the cloud. The default install put the folder location "C:\Users\michaelmunson\Dropbox" I attempted to change the folder location by going to Preferences > Sync > Dropbox folder location. I changed the location to the external drive where I wanted it to be. After a LONG time, there was a quick pop up error message that said that not all files could be transferred. (I dont know which ones and can't find a log with details.) When I open file explorer, I am still seeing dropbox in the original location (c:\users\) AND the new location (d:\dropbox\). When I check back in preferences under sync, the dropbox folder location is still showing the original (C:\users\). When I tried to do the process again to move it to the D drive, a pop up box noted that there was already a desktop.ini file on the D drive and it could not move the files. Any idea of how I can get dropbox to show up ONLY on the external drive? I ONLY want to be able to download ALL of the content to the external drive. I dont' need it to sync and don't plan on having this as a dynamic file location with new or changing files. This is simply a back up of prior files. Thanks for any help. michael22Views0likes1CommentThe Dropbox folder is now in 'Locations' on Mac OS and I don't want it there
I am an avid user of Adobe Bridge for my workflow. DropBox gave me a message that it was moving to the "locations" folder of my Mac and no longer in hard drive location as a folder. I wish I never clicked Yes to that. I can no longer see my DropBox folder structure within Bridge. Is there a way to undo the "locations" aspect of Dropbox? I can see all my local folders within Bridge, and their folders within them, etc. I've tried making sub folders in DB as favorites, and nothing works. All files are "local" as well as on the cloud. I can see the folder and look at the contents, I see the file path at the top of Bridge, but nothing will show up in the favorites or Folders location in the "window" panel in Bridge. This all happened once DropBox became a location.20Views0likes2CommentsAre log files safe to delete on Windows?
There's over 200GB of 'log' files on my computer under: [Users/[user]/AppData/Local/Dropbox/logs] My Dropbox app (for desktop) is currently syncing, but I only have 20GB left on my drive and it's stopping me from working. What are the log files, and will they be cleared automatically once finished? Are they safe to delete? Dropbox app is not available after restart despite numerous re-installs, advanced reinstall, disabling firewall. App is only functional when opening and signing into dropbox website, select INSTALL DESKTOP APP and install app. OPEN DROPBOX UPON STARTUP is selected. I have also tried toggling the switch off and restarting, toggling on and restarting and repeat install process. Every time the computer is restarted, the app disappears. Hello Dropbox people. I see the setting is now in the Mac App but it doesn't work until you open the settings. So this means if you reboot your computer, or quit and restart DropBox, it goes back to using the light theme even if you picked dark. It's kind of annoying to have to go into settings each time to fix this.322Views1like22CommentsThe sync icons don't show up in Finder (macOS Sequoia 15.7.1).
Dropbox Desktop Mac Studio Ultra M1 Sequoia 15.7.1 237.4.5655 Several of us in my company are having this problem. In finder, the sync icon (showing whether something is online or offline) no longer shows up. Huge problem for those of us sharing a zillion gigabyte dropbox and constantly syncing and unsyncing. There have been lots of reports on dropbox support page and no apparent solutions. 'Advanced Reinstall' has been suggested, but those who have tried that it did not fix it, and that would be a full day operation to re-sync my 2gb of locally synced files for something unlikely to fix it. Unlike with some others with this issue, my icons neither show up in finder OR within the dialog box of an app (like when opening a file from within an app146Views0likes13CommentsIs there a version history for desktop app updates? I have issues with the context menu on MacOS.
Hi, I'd like to know if there is a versionhistory of the last couple of dropbox updates somewhere, I'd like to see what changes were made and issues fixed. Can't find anything on the website. I'm still having a hard time with dropbox not showing it's contextual menus in finder on macos. Plus, I'd like to update dropox by myself, I don't like automatic updates (and not be informed of changes at all).3.6KViews1like2Comments
