Export to ibooks

I uploaded a few audiobook (mp4) files to my dropbox and want to save them on my phone in ibooks.  I don't see ibooks listed in the export options.  How do I add it?  Or is there a different way to save these files?

  • Hey Metwo, welcome to our forum!

I’ve checked on the reply about this, and it comes down to the fact that the function in question is part of iOS, not our app.

I have just installed iBooks on my iPhone 6S, and followed these steps (from my previous post) successfully:

Once you have your files in your Dropbox, try this to get them to iBooks:
    • Open the file you want to export, in the Dropbox app
    • Tap the ellipsis (…) on the top-right, and select Export
    • In the lower row of choices, tap Open In…”
      • this will show you  a list of apps you can export to
    • Tap on the Import with iBooks”

If you’ve tried all the suggestions above, and have not resolved the issue, maybe you could ask Apple about it, or search in an iOS oriented discussion board. Of course it’s always a good idea to make sure your device is fully updated with the latest operating system and our
    latest app

    Cheers

Hi UnsinkableMoo, welcome to our forum!

When you choose Export, do you not see the iBooks option, even if you tap on the three dots () to see more options?

What about from within iBooks: can you choose to open or import a file, and then select a file from Dropbox?

    Let me know.
    Thanks!

I don't see iBooks as an option for exporting. Also in iBooks I don't see an option to link to dropbox

    Hey UnsinkableMoo

I'd be glad to follow-up on that!

Please keep in mind that based on a quick search I did online, I could see that iBooks can be saved on your devices as ePub files. Dropbox can't preview this filetype, though these can be transferred across devices using Dropbox if you put them inside the Dropbox folder.

If you've got iBooks on your computer, you could use these steps:

#1. Open the ePub files in iBooks (on your Mac).

#2. Copy the ePub files from iBooks into the Dropbox folder on your computer. Please keep in mind that everything you put in Dropbox will automatically be synced with the Dropbox app on your iPhone/iPad.

#3.On your phone, you could tap the file in Dropbox to open this particular file format, or export it to your device and use an application that can open this particular filetype.

Because you mention that these files are mp4 (audiobooks), though, could you please let me know whether you've converted them? Any additional details would be really helpful.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

    Warm regards,

    JaneA

    Hi Jane,
They are not ePub files. These are audiobook files, not just a regular book for an E reader. Thanks!
