How to backup files to Dropbox but ONLY new files that I will create on my new laptop?

Thanks Megan for the quick reply.
It was all my "old" content which I saved on external hard drive.
If I go to https://www.dropbox.com/backup I see my folders which I copied over from the EHD (screenshot below). Do I understand correctly:
1. I can choose to backup these folders by selecting them and clicking "save"?
2. However, if I don't do that then any new files that I create and save within such folder/s will not automatically backup?
3. If I want newly created files to backup automatically, I must save them in another folder and then do number 1?

2 years agoHey jsteyn, you can set-up your Backup using these steps.
If you don't enable the feature, and you simply make changes inside your external hard drive, those won't sync to Dropbox, unless you choose to copy the content from the drive, to your Dropbox folder locally.
It's not entirely clear to me if you had external drive Backup enabled on the old or new device. Would you mind clarifying?
Also, when you're referring to backing up only "new files", can you let me know if these files are inside your external drive, or device?
