How to remove the Dropbox icon from the system tray.

How can I hide the Dropbox icon in the system tray on Windows 11? This icon is pure marketing. The Windows setting shows this icon as off, but Dropbox overrides the customer's preference. This is really annoying.

    Hi dkm_toronto thanks for posting.

The only way I can suggest is to manually drag and drop the Dropbox icon as last in your system tray. That will place it towards its end.

Hiding it completely however, is not currently possible as that would mean to close the Dropbox app altogether, which would prevent syncing.

You can exit the Dropbox application which will remove the icon from the system tray, but Dropbox will stop syncing. Beyond that, there's no way to hide the icon.

Dropbox doesn't override it. That setting just doesn't do what you're expecting it to. It doesn't remove the icon completely. It moves it to the hidden icons on the system tray.

My request was pretty clear - hiding the icon altogether. But since you have proposed to stop using the product, I will definitely consider that. Thanks for the suggestion.
