Do you still experience the same issue on your end?
To make sure your Dropbox app is on the latest app version, you can also go here and try to manually update it from that page. Does the behavior remain the same then?

I put a red box around the folder link in each of these screenshots.
Current tray pop-up experience (clicking this link only opens the folder as expected):

EDIT: I found a workaround: click the ellipsis menu on the right of a file and then click "Show in File Explorer". This opens only the folder as expected.
