The Dropbox overlay icons are missing from our company-managed devices.
Hi,
I am managing a few computers with Microsoft Intune.
When I install Dropbox on managed computers, I always check that everything has synced and that it is on the latest stable Dropbox version...

Ok, so I think I solved the problem.
In Intune you can set Device Restirctions under "Devices -> Windows configuration -> Device restrictions".
In there i hade some App store restrictions, removed the few restrictions i had but kept "Install apps with elevated privileges".
Now the Overlay icons appear as they should! 🎉Screenshot:

Yes, tried reinstalling it several times.
I tried to logout and back in again now, but no success.

12 months agoHey AndreasTheMachine, keep in mind that Windows has a limit of 15 overlay icons that the File Explorer can load, with 4 reserved for the operating system.
If there are more than 15, Dropbox sync icons may not appear. Let's try to fix this and prioritize the Dropbox icons:
-Follow this guide to open the Windows registry editor (for Windows 10 and 11).
-In the Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers.
-Right-click and rename the Dropbox entries by adding spaces at the start of the file names.
-Restart your computer and the Dropbox desktop app.

Hey AndreasTheMachine!
What type of plan do you use? If you happen to be part of a team, is it possible that any of the other team members have also been experiencing this?
If possible, can you also maybe test a new user profile where nothing else is installed there, just to check if the same behavior is present there?

Our plan is: Dropbox Standard
Yes, the other team members are experiencing the same behavior.
It seems to work if the computer is not Managed by Microsoft Intune, so it might be a policy/settings problem in Intune.
