Windows context menu and folder icons missing
Hi, I've been checking the community posts and almost everywhere online, done every registry change, multiple re installs and i still cant figure out how to bring back the context menu options nor the icon indications that show if a file is offline or online. This is something that i have been dealing with for months, and i used to have a workaround by setting the options to set files online or offline via the Dropbox app but since the last updates that option is now missing. I don't know if that was intentionally removed or if its something wrong with my system, please help me bring back the context menu.
I even asked chatgpt for help and it was somehow useful since now offline files show an X that seems to be a system icon and not from Dropbox. I suspect is something windows related

Hi llanquin, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you have any other cloud providers running on your machine?
Regarding the grey x icon, you can read up more information on this page.
Keep me posted with any updates.

this does not seems to be the same case, it looks like windows icons are being used to show the offline status of a file and when i click the file, dropbox will automatically download it. I still don't see the context menu which is what i really need. here is a screenshot:

Hey llanquin, sorry for jumping in. Can you clarify the current syncing status and app version of your Dropbox app?

after reinstalling the app and selecting a new folder i still had no results, the new folder started to sync but the icons and context menu where still missing. Reinstalled again and switched back to my old installation folder so now for some hours the status says that is updating more than a million of files. Whenever i add a new file it will sync immediately.
I noticed that when i open a folder in XnView and it has no preview thumbnail generated by the software, it will show the icons with their current syncing status. I wonder what this means, it might be some regedit mess

Hey llanquin, let me also jump in here!
Would you mind trying the steps that Andrew K.24 provided in this thread, in order to resolve this?

Hey llanquin, can you please also verify that the Windows UAC levels are set to default levels?
This can be changed in your Security settings in the control panel.
You can check here for more info on UAC levels.
Make sure to also keep a note of any selective sync settings you might have.
After that, uninstall the Dropbox app and download the installer again.
Once you have downloaded the installer, double-click on the file to run the installer.
Please do not launch the installer by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Run as admin", as this will lead to incorrect install permissions.
Let me know how it goes.

I have the same problem, I tried reinstalling to a new location and I cannot share any file or folder from inside the dropbox location.
I do get the "Transfer a copy..." option but only for single files (i.e. no more than one).
When clicking the dropbox icon in the tool bar, I noticed a "rocket" icon and a "1/3", so clicking I get this window: I tried to click the other two checkboxes but nothing changes.
Any idea?
I'm on Windows 10, OS and Dropbox updated to the latest version.

Thanks for letting us know about this, grdn.
So, just to confirm, are the rest of those options there unclickable?
Also, what do you see when you hover over your Dropbox icon?
