Auto backup to network terastation

Hi everyone

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I couldn't see an option regarding backups.

I am trying to find out if it is possible to auto backup my Dropbox files to my NAS?  I would like to create a full backup initially and then do incremental backups every night of any files that have changed.

Is this possible?  I have seen that I can use third party applications to do this but they all cost money after the initial trial, ideally I would like a free option (don't we all) but if this isn't possible then I will have to go with a third party application.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Hi FlyingBadger, thanks for messaging the Community!

Currently, NAS aren't supported for the Dropbox desktop application, and there isn't any official way to do as you're asking.

However, there are third party services or apps that allow you to sync data to and from the Dropbox account and the NAS device.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

    Hi Jay

Many thanks for your reply and for confirming the current situation.

I will have a good look around for a third party app that I can use.

    Thanks again

Some TeraStation models have Dropbox support built in. While that won't give you incremental backups, it does allow you to set sync preferences such as the sync direction, which you could probably set to one-way as a method to back up your Dropbox.

Just remember that the Dropbox apps supplied with NAS units are created by the NAS manufacturer using the Dropbox API and are NOT supported by Dropbox. If you have any issues or questions, you'll need to contact the NAS manufacturer.
