Set Dropbox as the default saving place for Word

Hello!

I've recently moved from Microsoft to Dropbox as my cloud storage and I've noticed that my files are not autosaving anymore and even though I deleted my one drive app I still can't make dropbox my default saving place and whenever I tried to do it it doesn't change the settings it's like it doesn't take them because for the next file I try to save it goes back to OneDrive.

Thank you everybody!

Do you mean the Auto Save tab at the top of Word that looks like this:

If so you cannot, that only works with OneDrive. There is no functionality within Office to change it to other cloud solutions.

All I can suggest is moving the phsyical file locations to Dropbox and then working on them in that directory.

Got it, do you know how I could make the Macros work if it doesn't have the autosave...

They should just auto work? What error are you getting?

Can you post a screen grab?

If you mean that you want to use the AUTOSAVE function with Dropbox, sure you can.
However, this does neither apply to Dropbox personal accounts, nor to Office perpetual licenses, nor to Office 365 / Microsoft 365 personal or family subscriptions.

If you want to use the autosave function with Dropbox, you need to be subscribed to both:

    • a Dropbox for TEAMS subscription
    • an Office 365 or Microsoft 365 BUSINESS license

If you are, then you can add Dropbox for Teams as a connected service of Word (File > Account > Add a Service > Storage).

Once you're done, any directory in your Dropbox for Teams will be an autosave place just like any directory in OneDrive.

You can use autosave not only with OneDrive and Dropbox for Teams, but also with Box, Egnyte, iManage, ShareFile, plus a couple others in beta or preview.
