117 Topics"This file has been moved" error when trying to open Excel files in the Dropbox folder
Integration Affected Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Question or Issue One of our users started getting errors yesterday when trying to open Excel documents that are stored within the Dropbox folder. The file opens, but brings up the following error: The file has not been moved, nobody else has this problem currently. It only happens when the file is within the dropbox folder on her computer. If we copy the file to a location outside of dropbox, it's fine. Searching the internet, it seems people who use Box (which I'm assuming is similar to Dropbox), are starting to have the same problem. It was reported in their community beginning on Nov 25, 2025 and more and more people are replying to it complaining of the same issue. A few different "fixes" were suggested by their IT which did not fix the problem and yesterday they say they have determined that it's a bug related to the latest Seamless Login release from Microsoft. Just throwing this out there in case it helps the issue to be resolved with Dropbox quicker. So far, only one of our team members is having this issue. Please help.417Views1like17CommentsCan't add Dropbox as a place on a Microsoft Office app on Android tablet
Microsoft wont add Dropbox as a place I use dropbox on Desktop and Apple devices with a different account. It works fine with excel to save documents. For the last 6 months my android devices have worked great as well. However, recently, when trying to save an edited excel document that I’ve opened with dropbox on my android device, it does not give me the option to save the document to Dropbox folders once I’ve edited and click “save as”. After clicking “add a place” then Dropbox, and then signing in, it loads and takes me back to excel, yet it still doesn’t show up. No error message, just isn’t an option. Click add a place again, and can click dropbox as an option again, sign in, ect. It’s an endless loop. I have tried uninstalling both apps, disconnecting Microsoft and excel from the dropbox’s connected apps, other troubleshooting. nothing working so far. If you know a solution, please advise. thanks!51Views0likes3CommentsHow can we do basic spreadsheet editing on a mobile device?
The other main cloud storage providers both have spreadsheet editing software. And they apparently no longer support Dropbox. My only option to have a shared spreadsheet stored in the cloud with easy editing ability seems to be to use either Google sheets (with Google drive) or Microsoft Excel (with one drive). Your PDF markup feature is fantastic. Something like that would be great. Hit the edit button and bingo you can enter some data. No downloading or opening in a 3rd party app.Solved194Views0likes10CommentsMicrosoft Excel file with macros doesn't work when on the drive

Hello, I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365" Is there a way to disable this? Application Affected Excel Device Lenovo Legion Operating System Windows 10 Dropbox App Version v231.4.5770 Issue: Recently, when opening Excel files on my Dropbox path (these files are also saved offline), Dropbox has been requesting that I log in to Dropbox from within Excel (a pop up appears). Doing so created a variety of issues (macros no longer being permitted to run, changes to files not syncing), so it is seemingly superior for me to NOT log in to Dropbox from within Excel. However, by not logging in, the popup appears every single time I open an Excel file. Apart from being annoying, this is also causing me issues when attempting to read and write Excel files from Matlab code. How can I permanently prevent this Dropbox login popup from appearing in Excel? Some things that I have tried and/or implemented that have NOT solved the problem: - Turned off "Show Dropbox badge" in preferences - Turned off "Show Dropbox in Microsoft Office as a save location" - Uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox on my computer - Removed Dropbox as a "Connected service" in Excel - Removed Dropbox COM add in in Excel settings Thanks in advance.Solved796Views1like7CommentsI changed the name of my device, and now my Excel files won't open.

Hello, I opened a Microsoft Excel file from the Dropbox app on my iPad Pro and I saved it after I made changes and it will not upload the new version into Dropbox, it just says "Upload Pending". I tried deleting the Dropbox app and deleting the Excel app off the iPad and I tried turning it off and back on and I also tried switching to a different network and nothing has worked so far. Please help! Thank you!3.4KViews1like6CommentsCan I reference a workbook cell in another workbook that other people can access?
When referencing an external workbook cell from another workbook, the string that is entered is of the form 'Users/mikegoosebumps/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox-ESDT/Mike Goosebumps/Folder/[shared_folder_name]'. which works fine for me but if others load the Excel workbook, this obviously doesn't work. Is there a string that can be used in place of the above to dynamically reference to the the shared folder [shared_folder_name]? An added complication is I'm using Mac and colleague are Windows users?93Views0likes1Comment
