When I highlight text in a Paper document in my browser and then export it to MS Word, the highlighting gets lost. Bold, italics, underlined instead are all working as expected and are retained. I tried a few tips, but none of them worked: - copying text from the browser and pasting into the Word doc directly - using incognito mode - viewing the Word document online or in the desktop app makes no difference either - exporting to pdf first and then converting to Word doc (pdf has highlights but they get misplaced when converting to Word) Devices: Macbook Air (M4), Sequoia 26.2, tried both on Firefox(146.0.1) and Safari(Version 26.2 (21623.1.14.11.9)). Dropbox Version is 239.3.8100 but as I use the browser it might not matter. I am synced to open Dropbox documents in the online-only mode on my Surface Pro since it doesnt have a ton of hard drive memory. That has worked well for several years. Recently, my Surface Pro has been unable to open Word documents stored stored in Dropbox. Instead, I get the "Unspecified Error" message. I can open pdf files stored in Dropbox without a problem. What changed? How do I resolve this? I have updated my Windows and Dropbox apps. Thanks.Solved12KViews2likes7CommentsSet Dropbox as the default saving place for Word
Hello! I've recently moved from Microsoft to Dropbox as my cloud storage and I've noticed that my files are not autosaving anymore and even though I deleted my one drive app I still can't make dropbox my default saving place and whenever I tried to do it it doesn't change the settings it's like it doesn't take them because for the next file I try to save it goes back to OneDrive. Thank you everybody!42Views0likes3CommentsWhen 2 people edit a Word document at the same time in Dropbox, I get a permission message.
I work with one other person. We were both working on our laptops on the same file in our shared Dropbox folder. (I was adding to a working list and she was editing above.) But I kept getting an odd request for permission and the file name changed to a long sequence of numbers and letters and was saved in another folder called "old files." So the attempt to work on the same file at the same time failed. How can we make this work?Solved13KViews0likes7CommentsExcel file macros do not work in shared Dropbox folder.
I have an excel spreadsheet on my desktop computer that uses macros in order to automatically sort my tenants. When i upload this spreadsheet into a shared file folder with my partners, the macros no longer work and the file is not automatically sorting. What is going on. Why does it disable macros?5.4KViews0likes9CommentsExcel crashes when opening a file from Dropbox but not from Desktop.
Hello. This just started occurring yesterday for one of my machines. I have files stored on Dropbox sync'd through filer explorer. When I open the file from dropbox (file explorer), excel quits responding. When I open the same file from my Desktop, Excel works as normal. Dropbox is listed as a connected service in Excel and there have been no issues before yesterday. I have updated office and performed a repair without luck. Any thoughts?1.5KViews1like17CommentsThe dreaded error 'Can't save here choose another location' for MS office files.
Hello--I have a chronic problem with my file folders: frequently get 'Can't save here choose another location'. I use my employer's MS Office 365 account, and sync Dropbox to Windows Explorer, and use Explorer for my file management. The 'Can't save' message seems to appear when I am using many subfolders...if I go back one folder I can save the file. The problem is, this doesn't work with my folder organizing system. Is there a limit to how many subfoldes can be used? If so, can I release that limit? Or is the problem something else? Thanks you!5.2KViews0likes1CommentMicrosoft files on Windows 11 are prompting for a Dropbox sign up every time I try to open them.
Hello, I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365" Is there a way to disable this? Good morning, I have a Dropbox Basic account. I have linked my account to three devices in the house. Sometimes my partner and I need to simultaneously edit Excel files in my account. So we both log in with my Dropbox account on two different PCs on which there is the same Dropbox folder on the desktop, so we access the same identical files without any difficulty. The only problem is that when we open the same Excel file to make changes, Dropbox creates conflict copies. For our case, having a single Dropbox account in the family, is there a way to work simultaneously from two devices without having problems? I specify that, if possible, we would prefer to continue working with the desktop version on the PC and not online through for example office.com. Thanks in advance.
