Excel for the web is no longer able to load files.
Hello,
My friend and I share multiple excel files that we use regularly.
So far that worked like a charm!
We've done so for years and we never really had any problems.
But since this week, the larger files won't open anymore. Even files that we don't update anymore and always opened in Excel for the web, won't open anymore.
Has anything changed?
I've tried different browsers, clearing the browser cache, but it isn't working.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Hey falonso, let's jump right into this!
Do you get any specific errors when trying to open these files? If not, what exactly do you see?
When you say larger files, would you mind clarifying the size of these?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Meganthanks for your reply. This is the error:
The file size is 18.37 MB.

Thanks for that falonso!
Let's try something, please.
Can you duplicate in Dropbox an Excel file that you're having issues with, and check if the new copy can be opened?

Unfortunately that gives me the same error.
I've tried to download the file en upload it again as well, but that doesn't help either.
Opening smaller files still works, so I'm afraid it has something to do with the file size. But from what I can find online, 18.37 MB shouldn't be a problem at all. - Megan12 months ago

Now that you mentioned downloading the file, I wanted to ask what happens when you download it and try to preview it locally on the device falonso.
Does that work? Also, is the file type an .xslsx? If I were you, I'd also try an incognito tab on your browser, just to rule out any plugins or extensions that might be interfering with the apps.

Locally I can open the file without any problems. Opening in an incognito tab gives me the same error. The file is an .xlsx file

Hey falonso, are you having this issue with other Office files or just Excel ones?
How about other types of files, like images for example?

Hi Hannah unfortunately I don't have any other files of similar size to test with
