Hello,
My opinion:
I think the idea of migration is not bad in itself. Now you can have a PAPER doc in any DB folder, just as you can have an EXCEL, a PDF or a WORD in any folder. In this sense I think -I repeat- that the idea is good. On the contrary, having all the PAPER documents in one location (as before) is as good or as bad an idea as having all the EXCEL in one location, all the WORD in another, etc.
The problem, and what generates confusion and uneasiness, is to keep the interface of the application with the marginal bar and the sections. I don't see much use for that interface other than to add PAPER files to those sections. But after the migration the PAPER files are already organised with the DB folder system, like any other file. So that's all the application is good for, to be able to have all the PAPER files filtered in one place.
From my point of view, PAPER has a lot of potential and little ambition. If I had the power of decision, I would migrate it to a more versatile, less complicated application, like Obsidian or Logseq.
