I believe this is a limitation of OneNote if I'm honest. Its one of the reasons I've never quite got onboard with it sadly.

I have tried both, and neither work. I can’t share a screen shot without sharing private information. OneNote app does not recognize any storage accounts except OneDrive and Sharepoint. If I click on the OneNote file from folders, it does not launch into OneNote.

Hi from me too Ewfleis - thanks for the additional info.

Can you please clarify if you're trying to open the file through the Dropbox app directly or if you're doing this from the Files app instead?

A screenshot of the last screen you can get to would also help!

Yes, the onenote.one file is on dropbox. The dropbox app is on the ipad, and dropbox has been added to apple files. The onenote app is also on the ipad. When I try and add the Onenote file it will not show dropbox as a data source.

Hey Ewfleis, welcome to our Community!

Is your OneNote file saved into your Dropbox account? Also, do you have the relevant Microsoft app installed on the device, in order to be able to open the file?

Feel free to let me know the type of steps that you follow on your end, when trying to open the file.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.
