So, what's with Dropbox Passwords. I haven't used them, should I care if they are removed?

I received an email from Dropbox letting me know about the end of Dropbox Passwords. I do not keep any of my passwords in Dropbox (I use a database for that). So, do any of my activities use Dropbox Passwords for non-password-related activities (e.g., direct links to files for others to access)?

Should I be concerned about this?

Thanks for any insight.

  • Hi Megan,

Thanks for the information, I think that covers it all for me.

Since around 1990, I've kept all of my passwords and application data in a FileMaker database. I've never used or seen a password manager work as well as mine does.

Obviously, this is a mass mailing to all DB users. Suggestion: since not all users used DBP, it might have been handy to add a brief description and/or a link to see if they had ever signed up for it.

Thanks for the very quick response to my question!

Hi there, gary c.11, let's jump right into this!

The email you received is related to our Dropbox Passwords app which is a password manager. You can see more about it here

When you're talking about "Dropbox Passwords for non-password-related activities" can you clarify more, since I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to.

You also mentioned "direct links to files for others to access", which has to do directly and solely with Dropbox. If I misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know the steps that you're using. In any case, your Dropbox activities shouldn't be affected in any way.

    Keep me posted!
