Got an email for an upgrade to Essentials, but I don't have a Professional plan
I just got an email from Dropbox saying: "We’re providing you with a free upgrade from your Dropbox Professional plan to our new Dropbox Essentials plan at no extra cost." However, I do not have Prof...

2 years agoHi kpurcell, welcome to our Community!
When you say "welcoming you to our Essentials plan" do you mean that the plan was similar to the one the OP mentioned?
Did it ask if you wish to try the new plan, by any chance?
Is it possible that you have two separate accounts? If you have any screenshots, feel free to share them with me.
Let me know more!

I'm happy with the Professional Plan I had and always having to ignore constant requests to upgrade my account. So I would not have tried out any new plan.
I received and email about choosing a new plan which I did not do:
Also when logging into my Dropbox webpage it had a welcome popup and a new dark themed page.
The biggest issue for me is the new plan is more expensive, has features I'm not interested in and forces me to now pay annually instead of monthly.

I received exactly the same email and wanted to report it as phishing. I have never heard of Essentials and I DO NOT want to change my plan.

Let me explain: it seems that your Dropbox Professional account has been upgraded to the new Essentials plan at no extra cost to you.
What does that mean? You’ll keep all the features you had on the Professional plan, as well as some additional functionality, including end-to-end eSignature features and document tracking and analytics.
You mentioned that the cost is extra. Can you let me know what is the difference you see when visiting your billing page?

The initial 10 days are free:
But the plan is $2.01 more per month:
But I guess it is going to be the same price $21.31/month. I thought I also saw it was to be billed annually instead of monthly. Do not know why they need to push upgrades so hard.
I appreciate you looking into this for me.

Looking at the Subscriptions / Billing Period it is showing monthly.
Thanks!

Hey kpurcell, sorry to jump in here, but I just wanted to mention that your plan's price hasn't changed. You can check your billing history to confirm that's the case.
Note that the Dropbox Essentials plan replaced the Dropbox One and the Dropbox Professional plan which means you'll be getting more features at the same price.
In addition to all of the great features of Dropbox Professional, Dropbox Essentials offers:
- Signature request templates. Create up to 5 eSignature templates.
- Unlimited signature requests. Send as many eSignature requests as you need.
- Send and track. Securely share files up to 100 GB and access advanced sharing analytics.
- Frame-accurate video feedback and markups. Mark up, comment, and finalize projects uploading up to 10 files to Dropbox Replay.
I hope this helps!
