Updating your Windows version shouldn't have prompted you to copy your files to Dropbox or other syncing services.
Is it possible that you enabled the backup feature on your Dropbox application?
Do you see a "PC" folder in your Dropbox folder, that contains your desktop files?
If that's true and you don't want your desktop files backed up to Dropbox, you can disable the feature.
Let me know how it goes!
