Questions about reporting a folder/account
Hello!
I’m hoping someone here can help me understand how Dropbox handles abuse reports.
I recently found two Dropbox folders containing non-consensual deepfake p*rn of real people. I reported both folders using the standard report form, but later got an automated reply saying no violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service was found. That surprised me, because the folders clearly contain explicit deepfake content of identifiable real individuals.
The person sharing these folders was also advertising several other similar links for sale, so it looks like their account seems to be mainly used for distributing this kind of content.
One thing I noticed is that the shared folder links include an access key in the URL. I’m wondering if the report system might be removing that key, meaning whoever reviews the report can’t actually open the folder and see what’s inside.
I also emailed appeals@dropbox.com over a week ago with the full links and some context, but I haven’t received any reply yet.
So I wanted to ask:
Is non-consensual deepfake content allowed to be stored and shared on Dropbox?
If not, what’s the best way to report shared folders that need a full access link?
Is there another contact or channel if abuse reports don’t get addressed through the automated system?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi Amanda_26, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
In general, forwarding links and any information to abuse@dropbox.com would inform the appropriate team to investigate the matter in more detail.
We would recommend that you forward this information again to that email address if you haven't done so already.
Any content that breaches the acceptable use policy of Dropbox would be evaluated by the team.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
