Removing Dropbox from old computer

I recently bought a new computer.  I set it up with my existing DB account.  It synced all the files.  Everything is fine.  I now want to disconnect the old computer from DB. 1)  If I delete the DB...

    The answer to question 1 is ....Yes!  The deletes are "synced".

    Q2: reformating removes the dropbox client and so nothing happens.

    So, first you "unlink the old computer" from the dropbox account then you can keep old files, reformat, whatever.  Look at https://www.dropbox.com/account#security

    and find under "devices" the old computer.
