The poll results are in!

We asked our Community how organized their files are and the results are in!

According to the poll, 58% of people are not entirely happy with their files and folders organization. For some, it comes down to confusion about whether to use files or folders. We can help you with that, here’s a flow chart to help you decide, and here’s an article if you want to learn more about files and folders.

For others, it’s a matter of knowing where things should go, but maybe not always putting them there… That’s why we love the new smart features of the Dropbox Scanner App. It’s got smart folder suggestions based on where you've saved recent scans AND Smart naming suggestions based on your scans, so a lot of the organization is done for you.

When it comes to keeping your files organized, one of the most important things is naming files with detailed names. It means that even if you’re not in the mood to tidy your files away now, you can find your files and organize them a little later. No one ever knows where to find xpldjeg56nd.jpg, but you can find BrownBootsJan2020.jpg pretty easily.

A big timesaver, which seems counterproductive, is to set aside a little time every now and then, and just sense check all your files and folders are where they are supposed to be. Trust me, it saves a lot of time in the long run!

If you’re part of the 42% who are perfectly happy with how your files and folders look, share your tips and tricks below!
