Hi everyone,
We are aware of the issue with the badge emails resending to everyone. We are very sorry for this, as many of you are aware we’re in the process of migrating the site and unfortunately that re-triggered the badge emails. We totally understand your frustration, but we want to reassure you that we are working on turning them off.
Just to clarify, this website is hosted on a community platform to allow us to connect with you, so this is not directly connected to your Dropbox account. This is frustrating, but we want to assure you that there has not been a breach, and our security protocols are still in place.
We are sorry for this inconvenience and confusion, and we hope you can bear with us while we work on this. Our intention was only to improve the Dropbox Community forum, and we are hoping that our technical glitch won’t deter you from being part of the Community with us.
Your Community team.
Hi everyone,
I’m Sheena, the Community Developer. Now that the emails have stopped, I wanted to share more details about what happened. As you’ve noticed, we underwent a major community upgrade this week, featuring a completely new UI and backend.
During the migration, badges were accidentally removed and then re-added, which caused everyone who had ever earned a badge to receive it again, triggering an email notification.
We disabled the email notifications as quickly as possible, but due to the high volume of emails already queued in the system, which could not be cleared by us, many were sent out regardless. This is why you may have received an email even after turning off email notifications in your settings or hours after the initial event.
The email queue is now clear, and we’re about to reactivate email notifications. From now on, you should only receive the normal volume of emails for actions relevant to you, such as if someone likes your comment or replies to your post. Remember, you can always update your notification settings by clicking here.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. Please know that this was an honest mistake, and our goal is always to support and engage with you ❤️

I will agree with this. I like having the place to report an issue, and we hope the place where the question will be answered about how to turn off the badges or at least the notification about the badges, but I second the opinion about not wanting Dropbox to be a social medial platform. It's like you forgot what Dropbox is supposed to be for most of us - a place to store and share files. It makes me reconsider my recent thoughts of getting a paid version.

Turn off badges! We don't need achievement awards, especially if they are "unforced errors" by your dev team.

SO STUPID to acknowledge these badge resends and then let them keep happening. Fire your programmers and hire some who know how to put a stop to it.
But perhaps more importantly, exactly WTF is this community thing anyway? I never signed up for it. Not sure why I'm getting milestone badges for something I never use.
WHY are you trying to turn Dropbox into a social media platform. DO NOT WANT.

Haven't posted in a number of years. Not using Dropbox and getting these emails even though not subscribed to receive email notifications

I admittedly got a little scared at first but if it's just a retrigger, I can chuckle and move on with my day.
I's not like this is a huge tragedy to make a big fuzz about. Mistakes happen.

You have to go here "https ://www.dropbox.com/account/connected_apps", and then scroll down till you see a section with apps connected to your account, among them it's one called "Dropbox Community". Tap on it to unfold the section, and then Disconnect, the hell out it !

And what is it with these badges anyway? Isn't this a professional forum for a professional tool? I feel like I'm being treated like a 10 year old. This isn't a social media platform.
