How I use Replay to get feedback at Dropbox
Hi everyone! My name is CalvinDBX , and I am not on the Replay team but I love using Replay in my day to day at Dropbox, but I'd love to learn from y'all too - here's a video on how I use it! Let me know what you think. And of course, if you want to check out the Learn Library I mentioned, that's right here.17KViews13likes5CommentsI'm very surprised
Hey everyone, I recently had the chance to create a social media ad using Replay, and I had a lot of fun with it! The process was really smooth and enjoyable. I loved how intuitive and straightforward Replay is. I didn't have to worry about the technicalities; it just got out of the way and let me focus on getting feedback and sign-off. No issues at all! Take a look if you like - https://www.instagram.com/p/C6tXv3mKF8W/ Cheers, Luke4.5KViews10likes2CommentsWelcome back to the Replay group
Hi everyone! Weâre excited to relaunch the Dropbox Replay community group! This used to be the go-to spot for ideas and discussion, and weâre bringing it back to life - with your help. Whatâs new: Feature ideas migrated: Weâve moved product requests and suggestions from our external platform into this group. There are about 50 ideas that have been moved over, so take a look, comment, or upvote the ones that you want to support. Replay team joining in: The Dropbox Replay team will now be posting updates, sharing insights, and engaging directly with your feedback. Fresh content ahead: Expect new posts, tips, and ways to get involved and (hopefully) inspired! Help us to know what you want to see here! This is your space, and we want to make it work for you, so before we make assumptions and post stuff you donât care about, How are you currently using Dropbox Replay? What kinds of content or conversations would be most helpful or inspiring here? What would make this space more valuable to you? Whether youâre editing independently, collaborating with clients, teaching, producing films, or just getting started, we want to hear about your workflow, what works, what doesnât and how we can help! Glad to be back, and hope to see you around2.1KViews8likes3CommentsWhat we learned at IBC:
A few folks from the Dropbox team (myself included, though only briefly) recently attended IBC in Amsterdam. It was truly inspiring to see so many media professionals and experts gathered in one place. Here are a few things we learned during our time there, and Iâd love to hear your thoughtsâwhether you were there or not! What we learned: Our customers are passionate about not wasting time in their workflows. While this may seem obvious, it was great to hear specific use cases, like fully remote teams sharing training footage ASAP to avoid the need for retraining, or completing full feature-length film feedback loops efficiently. Customers donât always identify with specific tools or features, but with the function theyâre trying to achieve. This makes senseâthe goal is to have completed, approved, and ready-to-ship work, and we are simply the tool that helps them get there. Avid presented a great discussion on remote workflows and seamless collaboration, highlighting some sensible and interesting points: Initially, teams solved the challenge of global dispersion by duplicating media files, but 15% of daily work was lost to wrong versions, incorrect sequences, etc. Remotely accessing office systems mitigated some of these issues but still had limitations. The hidden costs of remote work became apparent when some editors were on-site and others remoteâeditors resorted to copying files onto hard drives and couriering them. The time spent managing files increased significantly. âIf I work remotely, I can spend up to 20% of my time managing or copying files.â Customers shared challenges, such as reporters sending audio files separately from video, which led to two teams working in real-time but on separate files. Any chance to reduce this confusion and downtime is a huge win. TL;DR: Folks want to shoot at high quality and turn it around fast. Whether it's shooting with a high-resolution digital cinema camera or a mobile phone, everyone wants to get that content quickly to colleagues around the world for review. For feature films, this often means execs want to see daily shots to monitor progress, while in the news industry, itâs about getting clips from the field back to the newsroom as quickly as possible. This is where Dropbox is working hard to streamline content ingestion and make it easier to bring that creative content into the tools you work with. What we launched at IBC: At IBC, we launched our Dropbox Replay integration with ATOMOS to help transfer video and audio materials from on-location productions directly into Dropbox. This helps remote teams share content ready for review or editing, no matter where they are. When it comes to editing, the Dropbox and Replay teams understand the importance of aligning feedback to speed up decision-making and reduce rework. In addition to our work with DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro, weâre excited to announce new integrations with AVID products. Now, users can bring reviewer feedback directly into ProTools and AVID Media Composer, ensuring editors know exactly where changes are needed. Across the show, the themes of speed and AI were front and center. Companies, large and small, showcased how they can deliver content quickly from anywhere while leveraging AI to automatically add metadata, like location or detailed content elements. This additional information can transform raw content into valuable libraries for future use. Iâm excited to hear your thoughts! Does this resonate with your experience? Did you learn anything new at conferences this year? Feel free to share in the comments below! đ15KViews8likes0CommentsMeet the Dropbox Replay team
The Dropbox Replay group is a space for you to connect with the product team and we thought now would be a great time to introduce you to some of them. But, rather than me telling you who they are, Iâll let them introduce themselves in this thread. I will, however, take the opportunity to introduce myself. Name: Graham Role: Community Manager Favorite Replay feature or tip: Marking up videos (It just makes so much sense) So, now that you know who we are, feel free to say hi, introduce yourself, and tell us a little bit about how you use Replay.6.8KViews7likes7CommentsGet to know Dropbox Replay
Update: We have some exciting new updates about Dropbox Replay, but rather than telling you all about it here, you can check out a new post here. You might have seen us mention Dropbox Replay before, but I donât think we made it clear just how useful this new video editing tool is. So, here are some updates, some tried and true, some examples and some images to whet your whistle. Dropbox Replay makes it easy to consolidate comments, take action on feedback, and finalize your video and audio projects in one place. Here are some new updates to get you thinking about your own projects: Ability to set password protection on Replay files Right now, both view only, and view and comment shared links can be viewed by anyone with the shared link. Now you will be able to also have the option of adding password protection to your shared links. This means you can upgrade your security for certain files but ensures you can still share with the right people easily. Why not refresh on how to share links? Image and Audio feedback on Replay If you are a video editor, you might prefer to share images or audio for feedback from your clients as pasrt of your creative process. Upload Subtitles/Captions: Replay is launching the ability to support adding subtitles to videos. This will help you to ensure your videos are accessible and inclusive upon delivery. Weâll update you on the details of that soon so keep your eyes peeled! Those are the new features but of course, donât forget you can already use Replay to: Create a virtual viewing room: Let everyone watch and mark up the same video at the same timeâwith smooth, high definition video playback that stays in sync for all viewers. Simplify video sharing: Send video and audio out for review with just a linkâno more exporting compressed versions and cluttering your hard drive. Get feedback from anyone: Browser-based reviews let anyone provide frame-accurate feedback and on-screen markupsâno special software or Dropbox account needed. Take action on feedback: Send revised versions out for review and respond to comments directly from editors including Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, LumaFusion, and WeVideo. Keep versions under control: Track every version of your video projectâincluding comments and markups for eachâin one place. So, letâs imagine you are working on a promo video, no matter what youâre into, gaming, your small business, a recipe - anything at all. Chances are, you will want some feedback before you push it live, so you upload your video and send a link to your friends, family or colleagues. They can come back in their own time with specific feedback, and see each otherâs comments (or audio and image feedback now as well) too so itâs a collaborative effort. All of your feedback and updated versions can live in one place, and ensure you push the correct version live when youâre ready. You can even password protect this file to ensure no one sends on the wrong version, and add captions to your files too. Sounds like a good process to me - and trust me, I have definitely clicked send on the wrong file more than once! But you donât just have to take my word for it, here is a quote from Rachel Jedwood, the Production Officer of the National Rugby League: âWe use Replay for our content that requires lots of feedback and iterations, like campaigns with our players and commercial marketing materials. With Replay, we can share our feedback in one place, keep all the conversations documented in the comment threads, and have everything we need for edits and final delivery.â Still need some more convincing? Our own Super User, Lukeyo uses Replay to keep his documentary edits in line too. "Getting towards the end of a recent project, I needed some really specific feedback on very specific sections of the film, and Replay kept that all in one place. I really like ti when something works that simply. When you tick off the feedback in Replay, itâs âlike ticking off a real life to-do list - when I go shopping and Iâve bought the milk and I never need to think about that again, so itâs finished.â I have to admit, I love the simplicity of that lukeyo! Are you using Dropbox Replay yet? We want to know about it! Tell us in the comments below11KViews7likes1CommentReplay Mobile
Originally posted by Carlos, with 59 votes at time of migration. Replay for me has great potential as a music producer, the only thing I'm missing right now is a mobile version. Right now there is no real reason for me to use replay since I can't use it when I'm not in the studio.135Views6likes0CommentsReplay should be part of any professional monthly package
It seems petty to start charging Replay as an 'Add on' at prices that I think are uncompetitive when considering the competition like Frame.io and Vimeo for client review - particularly for Dropbox Professional users. This stops Dropbox being a 'one stop shop' in terms of collaboration, file sharing, video sharing and client review. I suggest upper tiers of Dropbox monthly subscriptions get Replay as part of the package.Solved3.6KViews6likes9Comments
