it works be very beneficial to be able to aces backups in the mobile apps.
mainly such that I can access recently used files easily on the go. Website is not great on mobile

correct, in general that is true. However, because dropbox is saving it online, I can access it, and thus having it in the mobile app would be very beneficiary.
Also, because dropbox doesnt sync the desktop, documents and downloads folder unless its in a backup, I have no way of accessing files in those folder unless I specifically move them, which I normally dont do.
Until a few years ago, dropbox synced those folder without a backup, making everything much easier. - Rich1 month ago

Backups are... backups. They're not meant for regular access. They're used to recover in case of a failure or other problem. If you need regular access to files, then those files should be stored in your regular Dropbox. so you can access them easily in the mobile app.
