58 TopicsIt would be great to have a 1.75x option for playback speed of videos on the mobile app (iOS).
All major video platforms like YouTube, Wistia etc have 1.75 x speed also. Sometimes 1.5 is slow and 2 x is fast and hence 1.75x is idea for videos. So when I am watching the Dropbox video on my iPad it does not have 1.75x speed. Would be great to have this speed.53Views1like5CommentsOption to translate any document directly from the mobile app
Hello, today I noticed while reading a file in a foreign language that if I click on a word or a text, it is not possible to translate the text, it is a real shame because it would be a very useful function, especially today considering that artificial intelligence is present everywhere. I would find it really useful if with a click you could translate documents, pdf files etc...66Views0likes5CommentsReturn to the original folder after moving files/folders
Instead of leaving the user in the target folder, return the user to the original folder where the move items came from. Especially helpful if, like most moves, files from a single folder are being moved to various folders.96Views1like3CommentsMobile app (iOS): Having the option to open unsupported file types as .txt
As there are more file extensions than Dropbox recognizes, I have previously suggested that Dropbox examines the file content for ascii. As no action has been taken on Dropbox side to resolve, I now suggest a simple pop-up window that allows the user to select preview type. As a user/programmer ( in many languages) , I know what my files are, as I have put them in my Dropbox. I am best suited to know how to preview. This would allow me to review/edit files on mobile devices without temporarily renaming to a .txt file extension.809Views0likes5CommentsRetain folder structure when using Camera Uploads on mobile app
Backing up photos on mobile dumps them all into one 'Camera Uploads' folder. The expected behavior is that the photos uploaded will stay in their own folders. This should at the very least be a toggle option. Every other Dropbox Backup solution retains folders, so why are photos any different? You even select the folders to upload from when setting this up, so the functionality is a step away. Pretty jarring UX from an otherwise great service.24Views1like1CommentThe ability to add tags in the mobile app.
I’m not sure why this has been suggested for years now and this basic functionality still isn’t present in the app. This makes your automation really frustrating if I can’t add tags on my phone when I’m away from my computer and adding files from my phone.124Views7likes6CommentsCan we have an option to add a new folder upon saving a file on the iOS app?
When saving a file or a URL on the DB iPhone app, thx for making it somwhat easier to navigate to when the user wants to save the file. (Though it could be better w options for sort by most recent, alphabetical, etc). But the biggest issue is the user can’t create a new folder within the selected folder while still in the save mode. User has to drop the new file loose and then go back and create the new folder and then move the previously dropped file into the newly created folder.5.6KViews6likes17CommentsAndroid App: Fullscreen mode / Presentation mode / Slideshow for viewing images
Hello, until a few years ago, there seems to have been a “fullscreen mode”, “presentation mode” or “slideshow mode” in the Android app. This allowed you to swipe through photos in a folder without leaving fullscreen mode. Current: 1. click on an image in the image overview 2. the image becomes large (in Dropbox, no other standard app linked) with header and footer (info, share button, etc..., see image below) 3. you click on the image again: Header and footer disappear 4. the current state is the desired one [Now you would expect to swipe to go to the next or previous image] 5. however, swiping only takes you back to the view mode from 2. with header and footer 6. only now does the swipe work However, I would like to present photos and videos in full-screen mode using the app. The cell phone is connected to the TV via WLAN screen share. Why has this feature been removed? MfG André73Views1like2CommentsFull Emoji support in filenames
This idea needs no explanation. The issue was raised 8 years ago in 2017 and the idea was raised in 2023 and closed in 2025. https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/dropbox-not-syncing-files-with-emojis-in-the-filename/263856 https://www.dropboxforum.com/idea/101002013/full-emoji-support-in-filenames/836573 I use Dropbox to sync my Obsidian database (which is just a bunch of Markdown files) I just discovered that "Bookshelf 📚.md" is not syncing (I'm on macOS 15.5 and sync with Android and iPadOS) I'd like to use Obsidian freely and emojis are really helpful in naming my pages. Im sure there are a ton of other use cases that can leverage full emoji support. Creating a new idea so the idea can continue to work towards implementation. I realize this is a thorny issue and implementation may be difficult. I feel just because it's difficult doesn't close the "idea" of it being implemented. The whole point of conversation and discussion is to keep speculating on new paths to making it happen!99Views1like2Comments
