Please look at your android app version, it's so much better
Simple stuff but these are crucial. PLEASE look at the Android app version and improve the iPhone app version. When you want to add a file, there are CRUCIAL things missing:
- the list of your favorite folder should be show on that page where you need to select import folder. These favorite folder are surely the most important, the most used folders, so make the accessible in a click when we want to import a file.
- Still while importing a new file. There should be a "back" button if you click on the last used folder. Sometimes the appropriate folder is the one just before and because there is no button to go back to the previous folder, you must start from the very first folder in the main string... We are in 2026, things like that shouldn't happen.
- If you import a file that as the same name, you can only "replace" or "cancel" the import 😂 Where is the option to keep both? Like creating "name file (1).pdf" is too difficult? Now you need to abort the import, go back to Dropbox, change the file name that is already in Dropbox, and add the new file "again".
- When changing the file name, the current file name (minus the file extension) should already be selected and the keyboard should open up at the same time. We want to change the file name, make it easy to do it by saving us 3 clicks for nothing. 2026 is here 👍🏼
All these elements are already existing in the android version. There are no need to waist our time by keeping this Mac mentality that is from the Stone age. Technology is supposed to help us save time, not trying to remember Steve Jobs and his stubborn mindset.
Let's go Dropbox iOS, it's time to catch up with Android 🚀

Counterpoint: Don't rename my files, EVER. Make it an option, fine, but don't rename files with (1) etc. if a duplicate name exists. Prompt me to rename, or stick with the existing Replace and Cancel options.

Hi Neal,
Looking at the amount of traffic here and the amount of vote makes me a bit sad and desperate... Like I said earlier, this voting system isn't fair and or efficient, the parameters involved aren't based of efficiency but on popularity.
The fact itself that those features are already existing on Android should definitely raise some serious questions amount iOS devs. Those software engineer have already spent enough time to make a great product with efficient tools, my message here is clear for the iOS team, don't try to invent something new or waste time or crazy ideas voted by 1 individuals with a lot of friends, just go copy what the android devs have already did.
It works well on Android and clearly those features are a must. iOS users aren't aware of the lack of efficiency, go and suprise them with perfectly designed old android features.

Hi SamuelTrepanier,
I appreciate the passion behind all of this and I do see where you're coming from but we do need to follow the idea process here.
Our engineers already have assigned workloads and only have so much bandwidth to dedicate to new projects.
In order to be fair to everyone else who has submitted ideas for the features they want to see implemented, we can't just fast track ideas.
I hope you understand and I appreciate the in depth feedback!

Just pass this to the appropriate manager, these are features that a high school student would design in the best interest for everyone using his app... Very basic, let's keep it easy and fast 🚀

Hey SamuelTrepanier - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.
I can see that you also posted an idea about this, so I'd recommend keeping an eye out there too.

Hi Neal,
No offense but this "voting" thing shouldn't exist in the first place. Active users don't have time to vote for features that should save them time. It has been 10 months that I'm on the iOS app version and it's honestly shocking how poorly advance it is versus the android version.
Every day for the past 10 months I told myself that this is so out of date that something is wrong with my version and decided to wait for the update.
Seems like the mentality is the issue here.
These features aren't suggestions, these are mandatory by all means for the users of Dropbox. Head over to an android phone and start importing files, you will never want to use the iOS version anymore.
Apps are supposed to be efficient, you don't need votes to add efficiency to an app, you need the iOS department to wake up and keep track with Android devs.
It's been long enough waiting for basic features, please submit these to the appropriate manager. Not doing so would be a shame on Dropbox.
If you're looking for stats, check how many Dropbox users are using those buttons. And don't you think it's outdated not to be able to import two files of the same name while having the app add a (1) at the end of the filename? Seriously...

Status changed:NewtoOpenHi SamuelTrepanier,
Thanks for submitting your idea and sharing this feedback on Amy's post as well.
I've opened this idea up for voting so the rest of the community can weigh in on this.
Best of luck!
