I use emoji’s to help me find things quicker. I would like to add an emoji from the apple keyboard to the file folder name but when I click on rename and add the emoji it says “invalid folder name...the folder name contains invalid characters”. Here is an example I wish to change “Vehicles and DOT” folder to say “🚗Vehicle and DOT”

Generic filename support should be a requirement to avoid edge cases. I just got a notification about a file that won't sync today because of this. Unfortunately for me if that file is missing from my other machines my whole system will not work. For my own files it is a hassle but I can rename them. But for files that other people provide me (via git usually) I don't have any control over their names.

Please support this!
I'm just tried to use Dropbox to sync my Obsidian files and ran into a problem syncing an important file with an emoji in the filename. It's very standard to fully support emojis in 2021.

This feature would make a massive difference! Is there a potential workaround? Many applications use dropbox to host files that get synced across devices, and having emojis in folder and file names is a really big part of my and many others' workflows.

This can't happen soon enough. I'll have to switch to a different service provider if unicode support isn't implemented soon.

I would love to see this happen. iCloud supports all emojis in folder and file names. It offers a lot more customizability and I like the visual element of it!

I can see some nightmares with this if you want to keep the support for all OS'es 😱
It's bad enough on the client side where Macs can use some really weird file names locally which gets "translated" or skipped when syncing with Dropbox.
