2025 sparked some incredible conversations across our community 👩💻. Discover the highlights and see what’s ahead in 2026.
We previously had the ability to request files directly from Windows File Explorer, but that functionality has been removed. We rely heavily on this feature, and its removal has already made our workflow more cumbersome.
Currently, to request files online, we have to navigate into a folder, click an obscure settings icon, select “Add folder,” and then find “Request files” within that menu. This multi-step process is unnecessarily inefficient.
While there is a prominent “Request files” button at on your requests page, using it requires scrolling through hundreds (or even thousands) of folders to locate the correct destination, which is not practical.
Could you please add a clearly visible “Request files” button or option directly on each folder’s page? Having this available at the folder level would significantly improve usability and efficiency.

Thanks for sharing this with the Dropbox Community.
I think there's a reasonable case to be made here to implement in a file request button.
Let's open this up for the community to add their support.
