Notification icon for unseen new files

For some reason it's giving me an error if I try to put this as a link...

My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy.
I think it'd be very helpful if there was an option to show an icon on any unseen new files, and to have folders have a number icon showing how many of these unseen new files are inside. Kind of like unread emails/texts.
