Super UserJust my personal view as a user and without commenting on whether this idea would be profitable for Dropbox or not, I think your suggestion of simplifying direct device-to-device sharing is interesting.
From my perspective, with Wi-Fi and cloud services widely available today, the practical need for such a solution might be limited.
Still, if done well, integrating all these methods into one seamless experience could be very useful.

I appreciate anyone taking the time to read and respond to my idea.
And I have to say I agree with you. Both about competing with widely available cloud services and the potential useful of the idea once done well. They, and I, should keep both of these points in mind.
Also, I believe it can profitable, or at least gain revenue, from this through certain models. I held back on that aspect as well as some other aspects I wanted to discuss since I proposed a lot already and wanted them to focus on the core idea.
