To be able to right click and search through tags.
I'm an Evernote user from the early days. Tagging items has been something I'm accustomed to for a long time. I'm bummed that Dropbox isn't taking full advantage of these. They are not easy to get to in the web interface at all. I count at least 3 clicks, and none of those clicks are "Tag..."
Once something is tagged... am I just missing something? It's not evident at all. They aren't distinguished in a "bubble" or "block", color coded, and no option exists in the sidebar. I also cannot add the tags to my visible column set (also really lacking area). The only place I've discovered that tags actually exists in the web interface is under the search bar - but not at all where I would expect to see them in the application.

Hi Jay, I use a website bookmarking tool that has excellent tag management features, and I would appreciate similar functionality in Dropbox. With this tool, I can easily access the tag management area to review all the tags in my account. This allows me to remove misspellings, update outdated tags, and consolidate similar ideas into a single tag. Here are a few examples from the "B" category.
Let's say I want to modify the tag back.
Hovering triggers the option to edit or delete the tag itself:
Clicking the tag displays all of the assets that have the tag of back. This asset is no longer needed (as the website no longer exists), so I can delete the tag from the system, then delete the asset altogether in another step.

Hey blegion47, thanks for letting us know more!
I'm going to keep this idea open, with the main focus being the ability to right click on files/folders and search your existing tags.
Since you mentioned some additional feature requests related to tagging, I'd suggest posting those as separate ideas, to avoid any confusion, and maintain clarity.
You can see some helpful tips about submitting your ideas here.
Thanks a bunch!

I would love to be able to right-click a file or folder (or more than one at a time) and select one of my most popular tags/see the list of tags and select one.
For example - in a large folder of files. I may have files for different types of work that are broadly grouped by the folder. Tags would help me quickly spot the files that are related and go together. If they are color-coded (even automatically colored) that would help me spot those related things.
Example Folder: Personnel
- File 1 - #personnel #documentation #notes #meeting-notes #2025
- File 2 - #personnel #planning #growth #expansion
- File 3 - #personnel #documentation #former-staff
- etc.
I would love for the tag(s) to be visible in a column while I scroll through my files to easily spot them. This would potentially allow me to sort/filter by them.
I would love for the tag(s) to be grouped in an area on the sidebar so I can see what tags exist and sort them accordingly. Would also help if the same tag needs to be used across multiple folders.
