Been using dropbox for years just to backup a specific folder. Now I want to purchase the option to backup my entire computer but when i follow the helpdesk article it tells me to go to preferences, then backup and then it asks me to nominate specific folders. I don't want to chose folders, I want the entire pc backed up (mac). Please advise.

Hi @tonyob

Yes, that is correct. At the moment, it'd be only these paths.

If you need anything else, I'm here for you.

Hey @tonyob, welcome to our Community!

At the moment, our Computer backup feature allows you to backup key paths, such as: Desktop, Downloads, and Documents.

However, if you have content outside of these paths that you need to sync to your account, you'd need to place it in the Dropbox folder and allow for it to sync.

I hope this clarifies.

Thanks for the quick reply.  Am I able to specify my home folder as one of such paths?

I had a look and it seems only a predetermined set of six folders is a available?

Desktop

Documents

Downloads

Movies

Music

Pictures

I am using iCloud to back-up some of my files including iPhoto but I want more flexibility and have several hundred GIGs of videos on my computer that I would like to keep in my Dropbox backup and not take up so much space on my computer's flashdrive.  How do I set-up my computer backup on dropbox to achieve that goal?  I still want to keep iCloud for syncing to all my Apple devices.

Hi @davec123, welcome to our Community!

Unfortunately, this isn't possible at the moment.

I would suggest that you go under our " Share an idea" section and add this there as a future feature request for other users to see and upvote.

I hope this clarifies things.

No. You would need to move the folder into your Dropbox folder so it can sync.
