Confusing Dropbox Paper message

Confusing Dropbox Paper message

Arek Luc
Helpful | Level 6

Paper has a great functionality to share a document via sending the link with the view permission to select people. It works for everybody, regardless of whether they have a Dropbox account or not. However, the final effect is spoilt by displaying the conspicuous message “You are not logged in and changes cannot be saved.” that can partially block the text. What’s the point of displaying this message if the document is shared with the view permission only so no changes can be made by the viewers anyway? And those with the Dropbox account, if they’re not already logged in, can easily figure it out from the login prompt directly above the message!

Please remove this message because it’s redundant, misleading (people may think if they register or log in, they will be able to edit the document) and spoils the aesthetics of the shared document.

By the way, I put it under ideas but in fact this is a bug report. This message only makes sense if a file has been shared with the edit permission, not the view permission.

Hey @Arek Luc, thanks for taking the time to post here.

We appreciate your feedback about the prompt someone gets when opening a link to a Paper document.

I've passed your comments along to our team about this.

If you need anything else, please let us know.
