Modified time wrong

When I do a backup, the modified time is not only wrong, but weird!  For example, I saved a file at 2:32 PM,  auto backup. Checked it in the "view content" window of Backup at around 3:00 PM, and the Dropbox Modified time showed 5:31 PM!  Almost 3 hours into the future!  (The date shows correctly.)

I am using a Mac mini M2, running Ventura.  The time on my computer is correct.  Also, in the Dropbox settings, I have the time zone set correctly.

Any help appreciated. Thanks, Lee

Hi there Leett, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you please clarify the version of the desktop app installed on your computer as shown in your menu bar?

If you could also send us a screenshot to have a visual too, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Hi Leett, awesome job, thanks for clarifying!

Can you also send us a few screenshots of the modified time as shown on one of your files, please?

    Thanks Megan:

This file shows in Folder that it was saved at 7:04.  Version history shows 7:08.  It is interesting that the modified time shows the :04 correctly rather than the crazy numbers I was getting before. Again, the preferences are set to my time zone in Dropbox.

I have about decided to abandon Dropbox for backups - it's just too buggy.  I could not figure out how to delete a file (and I'm fairly computer savvy).  It told me to do it in Settings, and even that label is wrong since it is actually Preferences.  Also, I had unchecked the backup screenshots and it did it anyway.  It could be a problem with this fairly new M2 silicon chip.

Anyway, I will follow any ideas but if that doesn't work, I'm going to delete the backup.

But I do appreciate your efforts!  Thanks, Lee

Hi Leett, based on the screenshot you sent, it seems that the time in the version history is the time the file was uploaded to Dropbox, hence the difference.

Now, as for Backup, it seems that the steps you mentioned, are about disabling Backups entirely, am I right about this? Also the settings are for the account online.

If you wish to delete a file, you can just do it from the backed up folder or external hard drive locally, and the changes will sync to your account online.
