I no longer want to use DropBox. How do I drop Remove the /DropBox as above? And, can I deactivate the account? I don't like it that when files are deleted in DropBox they disappear from everywhere. Thank you.
Hi @pambarnes01, have you followed these steps to disable the computer backup feature?

Thank you for the response. It seemed to have worked for the Documents folder but I am not sure yet if it has worked for the desktop or the downloads folders. "Can't redirect into reparse point, please choose a different path path."
Sorry for jumping in, @MONTSERRAT RED CROSS.
Just to clarify, have you disabled the computer backup feature altogether?
Can you send me a screenshot of what you see when going to your desktop app preferences > Backups tab?

Is there any instructions for Mac users?
Hi @acej, have you enabled the computer backup feature? What happens if you try to disable it?

It is disabled and the 'ghost' files still appear. Thanks.
By ghost files, do you mean that the Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders are still present in the Dropbox folder?
Does the Mac device default to those locations when trying to open the Desktop folder for instance?

Not sure what you mean. I've attached a screen shot, the file circled in red is an example of a "ghost" file, it
can't be opened or found on the computer.
Hey @acej, have you restarted your computer ever since this started happening?
If that doesn't help, I would also suggest re-indexing your Spotlight.
